We are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with a Lead Process Engineer or Process Engineer based at Peterborough with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Head of Engineering and you will provide engineering technical direction to the discipline engineers in your area in either water or water recycling non-infrastructure projects. Our client, a leading innovator in the manufacturing sector located in Bradford, is looking for a skilled and driven Manufacturing Process Engineer to join their completely remote engineering team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to optimize and enhance production processes, improve efficiency, and drive quality improvements from a remote working setup. You will be instrumental in identifying and implementing solutions to streamline manufacturing operations across various sites, working collaboratively with on-site teams.

As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, your responsibilities will include analyzing existing manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. You will design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes or modify existing ones to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality. This involves utilizing lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other continuous improvement techniques. You will conduct feasibility studies for new manufacturing technologies and equipment, and work with suppliers to specify and procure necessary machinery. A key aspect of the role is developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training materials for production staff. You will also be involved in process validation, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing corrective actions. Collaboration with quality assurance, R&D, and maintenance departments is essential to ensure integrated and effective manufacturing solutions. Furthermore, you will track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, yield, and waste reduction, and report on findings and recommendations. You will support the implementation of automation solutions and new technologies.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a manufacturing process engineering role is required, preferably within a complex production environment. Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and statistical process control (SPC) is essential. Proficiency in CAD software for process design and simulation tools would be beneficial. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills are paramount. You must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and manage projects remotely. Experience with process automation, robotics, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is highly desirable. This fully remote role allows you to leverage your expertise to drive significant improvements in manufacturing operations across the business.
