Pre-Construction Engineer - Electrical
Office based in Bridgwater (Hinkley Point C Project)

Summary
NG Bailey are proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater , Somerset. This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey , the UK’s leading independent engineering and services business, are proud to be part of the MEH Alliance , a joint venture to deliver the mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation for the project.
As part of recent growth on this project, we are actively recruiting for multiple Pre-Construction Engineers with an Electrical background to join us. This is a permanent full-time position but will primarily be office based in Bridgwater (roughly 10% of working time will be spent onsite).
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
- Ultimately accountable to deliver Discipline Specific Construction Work Packs and record in Asset Suite 9 (AS9) the work information used to prepare for installation.
- Contribution to the scheduling of the works for the discipline, inclusive of review and feedback on suitability of level of resource.
- Define boundary of scope of works, liaising with necessary SME’s and client counterparts.
- Ensuring documents are compliant with latest works information and other MEH documentation. Request clarification or propose changes when required. Prioritisation and ownership of documentation to enable construction works as per the schedule.
- Ensure documents are kept up-to-date and reviewed periodically where required
- Ownership and driving of deliverables from conception to A-Accepted status >90% first time accepted criteria. Can be inclusive of specific Method Statements.
- Prioritisation and ownership of documentation to enable construction works as per the level 4 plan. E.g. T-3 months accepted prior to works
- Support continuous improvement programmes to improve process/procedures
- Provide line management to other team members and/or deputise for the PM where required.
What we’re looking for :
- HNC/HND level qualification or equivalent in relevant construction/engineering discipline and experience with installing electrical systems.
- Prior experience with Navisworks would also be very beneficial in this role.
- Proven experience of safely delivering large scale construction or engineering projects including working at a management level of authority.
- Experience in nuclear or other highly regulated sectors is advantageous.
- Experience in working with Joint Ventures is desirable.

Overview
Our Specialty Construction division, headquartered in London, has over 110 dedicated construction insurance specialists in the UK and more than 500 operating worldwide. We deliver global insurance solutions for some of the largest and most complex construction projects and clients around the world.
The Construction specialty department has grown rapidly in recent years and is now a market-leading practice. We are looking for a Sales Prospecting Executive to utilise a range of sales and intelligence tools to track, explore and review prospective new construction opportunities in the UK and seek to connect leads to the Owners and Developers team and assist them in converting these opportunities.
How you'll make an impact
- Work with the UK Owners and Developers manager and the wider senior team to establish structured lists of prospective new business targets.
- Establish potential key decision makers and contact details, working with our centralised Sales and Research and Development functions where required.
- Seek to contact prospective opportunities by phone, in person events, email, LinkedIn or by other means to establish leads for potential conversion in collaboration with the UK Client Service teams.
- Manage and maintain a pipeline of prospects and record of closed opportunities for analysis utilising Salesforce.
- Work with the UK Owners and Developers team manager and wider New Business team to identify best practices for refining the company’s lead-generation playbook.
- Report to Owners and Developers team manager and wider UK Executive Committee on a regular basis with outcomes.
About You
- A successful track record (preferably in insurance and/or UK property developer sector) in a sales role, with a track record of successfully obtaining new business leads
- Strong communication skills via phone and email
- Networking skills, building and maintaining relationships with industry contacts and potential clients with a diverse range of personalities, insurance expertise and interests
- Persistence and resilience, the ability to handle rejection and continue pursuing leads with determination
- Goal-Oriented individual who is focused on achieving sales targets and objectives
- Organised, rigorous and determined mindset to regularly update and reapproach prospect list
- Proficiency with Salesforce or other CRM software.

Strong technical assistance will be provided from experienced members of the team throughout. Significant training opportunities exist for those candidates interested in developing their technical skills and knowledge in the role. - Construction Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of construction execution, techniques, methodology, and constructability issues related to complex infrastructure or asset improvement projects.
- Quality Management: Experience in quality management for multi-discipline infrastructure or asset improvement projects.
- Health and Safety: Excellent understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental issues in the construction industry, with experience addressing these issues highly desirable.
- Project Close-Out: Knowledge of controlling and managing project close-out and handover processes, including understanding Building Control requirements.
