They are looking for applicants with proven Project Management or Contract Management experience within Modular Buildings, other Forms of Off-Site Construction such as Timber Frame Buildings, Steel Framed Buildings or Bathroom Pods but they would also be interested to speak with candidates from a Main Contracting / Traditional Build background, again to work across the UK.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will work on projects ranging between 00,000 and ,000,000. You will be Measured on Liaising with Clients and Building Strong Relationships along with Handing Jobs over, in line with Contracted programs but most importantly, with jobs conducted in a safe fashion. You will make sure that sub-contractors are effectively managed but the key measurable is Finishing Jobs on time, on budget with clients happy and satisfied.

You will be responsible for managing Site Managers and Indirectly, you will very much work as a Team Leader as you will be working with QS's, the Design Team, the Preconstruction Team and the Factory Team.

You’ll contribute to the university’s £1.2billion capital programme running over the next 15 years, with the potential to lead a variety of construction and refurbishment projects across accommodation, high tech laboratories, faculty buildings and restaurants. 

Capital Works Project Manager

This role offers an outstanding opportunity to lead vital upcoming projects with budgets up to £00 million each across our diverse estate, from our original accommodation and facilities through to new campus upgrades.

In this role, you will lead the delivery of multiple, simultaneous complex projects within our diverse estate environment. This involves close liaison with clients to manage external assessments, design management, contract management, contractor management on-site, strategic procurement, and project handovers.

You’ll take ownership from day one, through to the completion and occupation of buildings.

Small Works and Refurbishments Project Manager

Within this role, you’ll work on a varied set of projects from small (e.g. lighting, carpets, painting) to large-scale maintenance, such as lab installations (e.g. lab gases, benching, power/data for specialist equipment).

You’ll manage expectations and liaise with academics and contractors to ensure your projects are delivered safely and on time.

About the roles

Both roles involve developing cohesive project teams, ensuring that all team members are aligned and working towards common goals. By working closely with various clients and stakeholders, you will guarantee seamless project performance and maintain high standards through quality assurance and risk assessments.

To ensure all aspects are on track and within scope, you will closely monitor project performance, successfully implementing solutions by leading external consultants and contractors, coordinating both the legal and practical aspects of NEC and JCT contracts. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and effectively, meeting all necessary requirements, budgets and client expectations.

You’ll join a growing team managing capital development and day-to-day maintenance projects. We are a supportive, flexible team that promotes a positive work-life balance. This is a hybrid role with an expectation of 2-3 days on campus per week.

About you

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Proven success in delivering multiple complex projects at the same time.
  • Comprehensive understanding of NEC and JCT contracts.
  • Experience in procuring, contracting, and managing workloads for both internal and external teams.
  • Demonstrable success in leading external consultants and contractors to achieve project goals.
  • Motivation and drive to achieve, with the ability to juggle multiple projects

Chartered Surveyor status is desirable, and we are open to supporting you in achieving this qualification.
