Main Duties and Responsibilities

Our client has exciting opportunities for Mechanical Maintenance Technicians to join their rapidly growing engineering team based in Chirk, North Wales.

These are full-time, permanent positions offering earning up to 8,000+ including shift allowance, overtime and bonus.

Our client can also offer Relocation Assistance (up to 000) along with Home Office Employer Sponsorship and Financial Support towards VISA applications.

Day Mechanical Technician Hours : 08:00 – 16:30 (5 days; Monday to Friday) or you can choose to work 07:00 – 17:00 (4 days between Monday to Friday).

Shift Mechanical Technician Hours : Full Continental 4 on 4 off (06:00 – 18:00 & 18:00 – 06:00).

Our client, a leader in Nuclear Generation requires a Mechanical Maintenance Technician at their site in Sizewell, Leiston to join our maintenance team. This hands-on role involves the inspection, repair, and maintenance of mechanical systems, with a strong focus on pumps, valves, and general mechanical equipment across our facility.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate of the following skills/experience:

• Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of pump and valve systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
• Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
• Willingness to work shifts or be on-call as required.

The Mechanical Technician will report to the Senior Production Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for the reliable and GMP compliant operation of the Production related equipment on Manufacturing and Packaging machinery and supporting systems within the facility at Hatfield.

Job Specific Responsibilities

• Maintenance, fault finding and repair of all Production Manufacturing and Packaging equipment, such that production priorities are met and the equipment performs to its optimum capability and maintains GMP compliance.
• Application of Good Manufacturing and Engineering Practices in all areas of responsibility
• Develop, follow, review and update procedures, job plans, certificates and standards.

• Setting maintenance regimes for equipment, implementing preventative, run time and reactive maintenance strategies
• Supervision of external contractors and equipment Vendors
• Modification to plant, manufacturing equipment and services.
• Assessment of critical spare requirements, ordering parts, planning shutdowns and workloads.
• Equipment failure reports.
• Co-ordination and participation in the development of risk assessment and method statements associated with specified work.
• Deviation investigations to define Corrective and Preventative actions and prevent re-occurrence.
• To fully understand and comply with all relevant Site SOP’s, cGMP and safety standards.
• Multi-disciplined, flexible attitude to team working.
• Identifying and implementing change control notifications
• Provide support to the production, technical and quality teams where required.
• Operation of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Advising on equipment selection, working with the Technical department to ensure robust solutions are implemented to ensure reliability.
• Commissioning activities to confirm that equipment will operate in accordance with design intent and to ensure installation and qualification tasks are executed smoothly

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair solutions in a timely manner.
• Conduct major repairs and overhauls of machinery, ensuring all work is completed to high standards and specifications.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to guide repair and installation activities.

• Proven experience with a wide range of mechanical systems, including rotating equipment, power transmission, and fluid power.
• Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance techniques.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with welding, fabrication, and machining is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with CMMS software for maintenance management.
