Urgently looking for an experienced and skilled Electrical/Mechanical Engineer.
We need someone that has a minimum 3 years experience in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and have confidence in working on breakdowns, fault finding and inspecting all types of lifting equipment.
You will be required to work across various sites in Wales so a clean drivers licence would be beneficial.
Duties
- Installation of hoists and cranes
- Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing crane systems.
- Create detail reports of findings
- Carry out thorough examination of lifting equipment and able to use a computerised reporting system
Skills
- Proficient in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering principles and practices.
- Qualified in City and Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
- Qualified in the operation scissor lifts and cherry pickers IPAF
- Qualified in site safety CSCS

**Requirements:**
Education: Master in Mechanical Engineering
Essential
+ Time served fully indentured modern apprenticeship
+ BTEC/HNC/HND/NVQ level 3 - Engineering Qualification
+ Electrical & Program Local Control (PLC) fault finding relevant qualifications
Desirable
+ HND / Foundation Degree in Engineering
+ Relevant IOSH Safety Training
+ PLC fault finding - (Advantageous Siemens S7)
+ 17th Edition IET wiring Regulations
**Experience:**
+ Significant experience within manufacturing & maintenance environment, although other modern industrial environments would be considered.(FMCG). Applicants with a hands on maintenance background, such as a fully indentured modern apprenticeship would be at an advantage.
+ Can demonstrate a good hands-on knowledge of electronic, electrical and PLC control systems.
+ Experience with pneumatic systems; air rams, solenoids and pressure sensors and how they operate.
+ Experience / knowledge of ATEX rated areas would be advantageous
+ Good fault finding and problem solving skills, coupled together with the ability to work under pressure.
+ Ability to understand electrical drawings.
+ General knowledge of health and safety standards and the ability to carry out on the job risk assessments.
+ Good organisational and decision-making skills.
+ Ability to make quick and accurate decisions.
+ Able to work alone and as part of a team.

What you’ll be doing:
In this role you will be joining a newly formed Mechanical Engineering team within a new office based in Coventry. The goal of this team with be to help deliver crucial ship services, crew life support capabilities and equipment and componentry for the current and next generation of Nuclear Submarine. This role will involved with supporting the design and development of various critical systems of the SSN AUKUS.
- You will be expected to lead and develop various mechanical engineering systems, equipment and components
- The successful candidate will connect and build relationships with suppliers to ensure that equipment and component specifications challenging demands
- Working directly with the customer to develop requirements and acceptance criteria based on operational scenarios, use cases and other design considerations
- Taking lead for performing and reviewing engineering calculations and analysis to make decisions and demonstrate system performance
- Co-ordinating, managing and helping influence a wide stakeholder base to solve complex engineering problems and make responsible engineering decisions
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Mechanical Engineering background in Rotator Machinery, Components or Fluid Dynamics
- Demonstrable experience in applying mechanical engineering for various products along woth different stages of a product lifecycle
- Ability to prioritise workload and ability to work well within a cross functional team
- A passion for problem solving and resolving complex engineering calculations
- Educated to degree level in Engineering, Mechanical or Science subjects
Desirable:
- Leadership /Mentoring experience

The Platform Systems team:
As either the Senior Mechanical Engineer within out Platform Systems team you will the opportunity to join a brand new team being created within our new site in Coventry where you will be working with other passionate engineers to bring a new way of thinking into the design of our Submarines. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop and mentor junior members of staff and build on technical skillsets. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria
