We're looking for an experienced and motivated Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team as a Senior Authorised Person at a major energy facility in Cornwall .

You will collaborate with the team to:
+ Lead and develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems.

+ Work with owners, operators and investors to independently assess the performance and configuration of assets including gas and steam turbines, boilers and associated auxiliary equipment for their capability, risk, and opportunities.

  • Client Liaison : Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers, providing technical support and updates as required.

  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage power trains, as well as associated control and instrumentation systems.
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office).
  • Full UK/EU Driving License.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience :

  • Professional registration.
  • Experience in CHP and power generation.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD draughting package or similar tools.
  • Experience with ETAP power analysis software.
  • Knowledge of HV substation design and the National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS).

Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a passion for sustainable energy and cutting-edge technologies? Clarke Energy is looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to help deliver advanced solutions across Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Hydrogen, Solar, Wind, Microgrids, Gas-Powered Generation (including Biogas and CHP), and more.

Your Role at Clarke Energy

Based at our Knowsley headquarters, with some UK and overseas travel, this exciting role will place you at the heart of our Engineering team. You’ll lead the electrical design of innovative energy systems—working across the full project lifecycle, from sales support through to commissioning. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Electrical Design Leadership: Develop detailed, cost-effective electrical engineering designs that meet project specifications. Create specifications, calculations, and equipment selection.
  • Technical Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and CAD draughtsmen while promoting a strong knowledge-sharing culture.
  • Advanced Power System Studies: Lead studies such as Load Flow, Fault Analysis, G5/5 Harmonics, Voltage Flicker (P28), and G99 compliance.
  • Proposal & Sales Support: Contribute technical expertise during the sales process, including reviewing RFQs and supporting client engagement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with clients, contractors, and partners to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Liaise with Mechanical Engineers and Project Managers to align designs across disciplines.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Lead HAZOPs, design reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive standardisation, innovation, and value engineering.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or HNC/HND with equivalent experience).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in electrical design within power generation or renewable energy sectors (1–25MW).
  • Strong command of LV and MV system design, control, and instrumentation.
  • Proficient in MS Office and electrical analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, DIgSILENT).
  • Eligible to work in the UK and hold a valid UK/EU driving licence.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration (e.g., IET).
  • Knowledge of DNO/G99 requirements, NERS accreditation, and HV substation design.
  • Experience in CHP systems or hybrid power applications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, PLCs, SCADA, and grid connection processes.
