Job Description
Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer – Sector: Manufacturing – Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire – Employment Type: Permanent – Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 4.30pm.
We are looking for an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team in a highly automated precision manufacturing environment. The role focuses on machine reliability, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement of CNC machining equipment.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults on CNC machining equipment.
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance across a range of production machinery.
- Support machine reliability initiatives and equipment improvement projects.
- Investigate recurring equipment issues and implement long‑term corrective actions.
- Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment availability and performance.
- Assist with maintenance planning, asset management and critical spare strategies.
- Support continuous improvement activities focused on safety, efficiency and reliability.
- Liaise with equipment manufacturers and specialist service providers when required.
- Contribute to a proactive maintenance culture across the manufacturing operation.
- Support operator training and maintenance best practices where appropriate.

- Previous experience maintaining CNC machining equipment within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding skills.
- Experience working with multi‑axis machining centres.
- Knowledge of Fanuc, Haas or similar CNC control systems.
- Knowledge of reliability improvement, preventative maintenance and continuous improvement techniques.
- Experience with PLC diagnostics and fault investigation.
- Exposure to TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen or 5S methodologies.
- Experience supporting precision engineering, aerospace, medical device or advanced manufacturing environments.
Applicants must have full Right to Work in the UK and relevant CNC maintenance experience. Visa sponsorship is not offered.
