Job

As Operations Supervisor, you will report to a senior operational leader and help oversee the day-to-day running of the operation. This is a hands-on supervisory role where you will support a small team, helping colleagues stay organised, motivated and focused on delivering high standards.

In a typical day as the Operations Supervisor, you may be planning workloads, checking priorities, supporting customer or internal service activity, resolving operational issues, coaching team members and identifying ways to improve workflow, quality and communication across the business.



Key responsibilities

  • Supporting senior management with the daily coordination of operational activity.
  • Leading, motivating and developing team members across the operation.
  • Planning and prioritising workloads to ensure tasks, customer requirements and internal priorities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Supporting excellent service standards, including communication, order or task processing, response times and issue resolution.
  • Monitoring team performance and identifying opportunities to improve communication, accuracy, productivity and efficiency.

  • Encouraging effective communication between teams and wider departments.
  • Providing regular updates to the Operations Director on performance, issues and improvement opportunities.


Requirements

To be considered for this Operations Supervisor position, you will need previous supervisory or team leadership experience, ideally gained within an operational, service, manufacturing, logistics or similar environment.

You will also bring:

  • Strong communication and people management skills.
  • The ability to plan, organise and prioritise work effectively.
  • A practical, calm and positive approach to problem solving.
  • An interest in continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and business, production or order processing systems.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships across different teams.
  • A hands-on attitude and willingness to lead by example.

This would be an ideal opportunity for someone who has been a Team Leader, Supervisor, Operations Team Leader or similar in an operational, service-led, manufacturing, logistics or customer-focused environment.

Police Digital Service strives to be the go-to partner for technology developments and programmes across UK policing. Our team provides technical advice and delivers services to help policing and law enforcement organisations across the UK prioritise and focus on technology efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the ISM Cyber Delivery Manager, providing specialist advice, reporting and assurance to principal stakeholders
  • Support implementation of the PDS Cyber Services (CS) strategy, roadmaps and business plans, bids and business cases
  • Monitor security, technological, social and scientific trends that could influence the National Policing policy
  • Ensure that outcomes and benefits are maximised from all people, process and technology investments as part of the PDS role in leading delivery for the National Digital Policing Strategy
  • Advise on necessary technical and procedural governance, control systems, standards and procedures
  • Forge strong relationships with National Policing Programme personnel and key stakeholders across Policing
  • Work closely with the DDAT and Technical Operations team to manage security decisions
  • Provide technical and security architectural input and recommendations to the Project and wider CS services
  • Consult on and develop information security and risk policies, standards and guidelines for National Policing
  • Apply and implement Secure by Design
  • Provide security advice, secure solutions and risk identification and quantification for National Policing projects and programmes
  • Input into the overall National Policing Target Architecture providing specific information security considerations into designs
  • Proactively provide specialist security advice to representatives of PDS and National policing in line with the demands of the Strategic Portfolio
  • A minimum of 3 years of proven IT/Information security and risk consulting experience in large organisations with complex security and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience of delivering security in one or more of the following cloud service provider environments: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Experience in defining and/or implementing security controls across multiple layers of the IT architecture stack.
  • Experience in the production of or input to design documentation (HLDs, LLDs, blueprints etc.), supporting cloud architecture design, implementation, operations, and automation in Azure AWS and GCP.
  • Strong knowledge and ability to demonstrate the use of the NIST Cyber Security Framework, mapping and translating NIST Cyber Security Controls to other frameworks such as ISO27001 and CIS Top 20 controls, including understanding of the Azure Cloud Adoption Framework.
  • Experience in defining, designing and/or implementing security controls across multiple layers of the IT architecture stack.
  • Demonstrate a track record of developing strong working relationships with a wide number of stakeholders, particularly in managing expectations across a large number of disparate customer, supplier and stakeholder groups.
