What do I need?
- Strong commercial experience with Java, C#, Python, Go or TypeScript
- Frontend development using React, Angular, Vue or Svelte
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Infrastructure as Code
- CI/CD tools including GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins etc.
- Experience building secure, accessible and high-performing applications
- Previous experience leading software engineering teams and mentoring developers
Desirable Experience:
- NoSQL technologies such as Elasticsearch
- Debugging and resolving complex technical issues
- Leading the delivery of technical projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the work, successful applicants must be eligible for SC Security Clearance, requiring 5 years of continuous UK address history, typically with no periods of 30 consecutive days or more spent outside the UK.

The Role As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and delivering modern software solutions, working alongside talented multidisciplinary teams to build secure, scalable and high-performing applications.
You'll combine strong technical expertise with leadership skills, helping to shape engineering best practices, support the growth of your team and deliver exceptional outcomes for clients.
Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of cloud-native and serverless applications
Build secure, scalable and high-performing software solutions
Guide engineering teams throughout the full software development lifecycle
Drive automation, CI/CD and engineering best practices
Work closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver innovative software solutions
Promote high standards across software quality, security and performance

About the RoleAs a Software Development Team Lead, you will manage a team of developers, provide technical leadership, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions. You’ll be responsible for end-to-end delivery, helping shape technical decisions and driving innovation across the team.
Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a small team of developers
- Engage directly with stakeholders and subject matter experts to define requirements
- Deliver pragmatic, high-quality solutions with speed and precision
- Partner closely with client teams to deliver projects collaboratively
- Challenge existing systems and processes to drive technical excellence
- Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends
- Minimum 2:1 degree in Computer Science or related field, ideally from a Russell Group University
- Strong programming skills in C#/.NET, Java, Rust or Python
- Passion for technology and working in a dynamic, integrated team
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong ownership mentality
- Ability to deliver full lifecycle software projects
- Strong business awareness and desire to build domain knowledge
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Energy, ambition and grit are valued more than prior management experience
- Financial services experience is a plus, but not essential
