We are seeking an experienced and proactive Housing Manager to join our small housing team for a minimum six-month assignment.

Salary - 35,000 - 40,000

THIS IS A 6 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT

The successful candidate will play a key role in improving performance, reducing the number of empty homes, strengthening tenancy management, and supporting the development of sustainable communities for new tenants.

The post holder will work closely with the outsourced housing management provider, local authority colleagues, technical teams, and partner organisations to ensure high-quality housing services are delivered to residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the outsourced housing management provider to improve service delivery and performance.
  • Support initiatives to reduce void properties and improve the turnaround of empty homes.
  • Promote successful tenancy sustainment and help new tenants establish thriving communities.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with local authorities, housing associations, contractors and other key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of housing management systems, processes and service standards.
  • Respond professionally and effectively to complex tenancy issues, resident concerns and community challenges.
  • Use tenant feedback to inform service improvements and enhance customer experience.
  • Work collaboratively within a small team, supporting colleagues and contributing positively to shared objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and deliver positive outcomes for tenants and stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • CIH Level 4 qualification (or above), or currently working towards achieving it.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in housing and tenancy management.
  • Proven experience of working confidently in partnership with local authorities and housing associations.
  • Strong understanding of housing management principles, tenancy management and resident engagement.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage complex situations with professionalism, empathy and sound judgement.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload and work independently.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to service improvement.
  • Experience of reviewing and improving housing systems, processes and service delivery.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small team and alongside external service providers.

The Role

We are recruiting for a Supported Housing Manager to deliver a high-quality housing management and support service within sheltered housing accommodation for customers aged 55 and over.

The service is designed to enable customers to live independently, safely and with choice and control over their lives, whilst being part of a secure and supportive community environment. You will play a key role in ensuring residents receive effective housing management support, maintaining scheme standards and promoting customer wellbeing.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Manage referrals and facilitate property viewings, assessing housing and support needs to ensure suitability for the service.
  • Conduct settling-in visits 2-4 weeks after customers move into their home.
  • Complete six-monthly tenancy and household audits, as well as reviews following any change in circumstances.
  • Support customers with rent management, including advice on arrears prevention and repayment plans.
  • Provide guidance on welfare benefits, welfare reform, budgeting and financial inclusion.
  • Ensure customers' homes remain safe by supporting repair reporting and managing anti-social behaviour concerns.
  • Promote independent living by maintaining links with community resources, healthcare providers and specialist support services.
  • Signpost customers to appropriate external agencies and support networks.
  • Coordinate minor maintenance and handy person services, including small household tasks and adaptations.
  • Work closely with asset management teams to identify and support residents affected by planned maintenance programmes.
  • Arrange referrals for aids and adaptations to help customers remain independent and ensure their accommodation meets their needs.
  • Monitor health, safety and cleanliness standards across schemes.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety and data protection requirements.

Skills and Experience Required

Essential

  • Experience supporting older or vulnerable people within housing, care, support or community-based services.
  • Knowledge of housing management, tenancy agreements and residents' rights and responsibilities.
  • Understanding of welfare benefits, welfare reform and financial inclusion.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities, including adult safeguarding procedures.
  • Awareness of health, care, support and advice services available within local communities.
  • Experience working with statutory agencies and partner organisations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload.
  • Ability to work independently, including lone working within the community.

About this Lead Private Sector Housing Manager job in Canterbury:

This role provides strategic and operational leadership for Private Sector Housing within Locality Services, reporting to the Head of Locality Services. You will lead a complex statutory service at a time of significant national reform, including implementation of the Renters' Rights Act, by setting clear direction, developing policy, assuring compliance and driving continuous service improvement.

You will lead and support a multidisciplinary team, manage significant budgets and resources, and act as the Council's expert adviser on housing regulation, enforcement, contractor management and policy. A key part of the role will be building strong relationships with stakeholders, government bodies and the wider community, representing Canterbury City Council at officer, member and public meetings to advance housing standards and strategic priorities.

In this role, you will be:

  • Leading the Private Sector Housing Team
  • Delivering statutory housing functions
  • Leading implementation of the Renters' Rights Act
  • Setting long-term objectives and monitoring service performance.
  • Delivery of stock condition survey programmes
  • Overseeing Disabled Facilities Grants and adaptations within our own housing stock

Your qualifications:

  • Degree or professional qualification in Environmental Health, Housing, Surveying or a related field

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Renter Right Act 2025, Housing Act 2004, Housing & Planning Act 2016, HHSRS and related statutory frameworks.

We’re working with a luxury country house hotel in the South West of England to appoint a Front of House Manager to lead all guest-facing operations. This is a hands‑on leadership role , ideal for someone who is passionate about service, team development, and delivering an exceptional guest journey from arrival to departure.

What the role involves:

About you

Essential:

  • Proven experience within the hospitality sector / professional services - this is an essential requirement

What you will do

  • Take charge of meeting room reservations, ensuring each space is immaculately presented ahead of, and reset after, every booking
  • Work closely with the in-house catering team to arrange refreshments and ensure they are delivered and served on time
  • Act as the welcoming first point of contact, greeting guests, clients and contractors with warmth and professionalism
  • Log maintenance and repair issues without delay and follow them through to resolution
  • Handle incoming calls, dealing with enquiries and transferring callers to the right person
  • Sign visitors in and out, issue and track access passes, and uphold security protocols at all times
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support including data entry, printing, photocopying, report preparation and client email correspondence
  • Assist with the organisation and set-up of events and functions, including planning and preparation
  • Sort and distribute incoming post and manage outgoing mail, deliveries and couriers
  • Develop strong working relationships with regular building users, clients and wider stakeholders
  • Liaise with external contractors, suppliers and service providers as needed
  • Keep the reception and front-of-house areas tidy, organised and welcoming throughout the day
  • Maintain accurate records, filing systems and databases
  • Support health and safety procedures and adherence to company policies and site standards
