Job Introduction
We are looking for a SCL Shift Engineer predominately but experience in RC cast insitu Works desirable. This Shift Engineer must have demonstrable experience in shaft and tunnelling works using SCL Method. The role is for the High Speed Two project. High Speed Two is the UK's new high-speed rail network. You will be required to control the excavation, and spraying, and carryout SCL testing in accordance with the project requirements including health and safety.

Please note the role will be based in Primrose Hill, London and would include shift work Monday to Friday.

- Shift Engineer will report into the Shift manager and or Sub Agent.

Role Responsibility

- Controlling the excavation and spraying using the Amberg tunnel software in line with Required Excavation Support Sheet (RESS). Amberg tunnel training can be given to the right candidate.

- The Shift Engineer will liaise between shift manger, pit boss and lead miner to ensure effective planning, coordination, and use of project resources

- Feed into the 6-weekly programmes look ahead in conjunction with shift manager for review at the weekly progress meetings.

- Drawing take-off for timely material ordering and delivery.

- Reviewing rebar and formwork drawings, setting out of rebar and formwork.

- Assist in drafting inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works for review and approval by shift manager.

- Produce as built records, fill in ITP check sheets and ensuring hold points are maintained.

- Deliver start of shift briefings, inductions and toolbox talks.

- Communicate to the QA and QS teams' non-conformances, and any instructions received from the client / designer / RE's staff. Ensure that comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works are maintained.

- Procure Materials through requisitions.

- Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any delays, changes / variations, subcontractors' attendance, and records of work-related discussions with client / designer / RE / project team.

- Adherence to project policies and procedures.

- Attendance to Shift Review Group.

- Undertake works in line with the RESS (Required Excavation Support Sheet).




The Ideal Candidate

- Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering

- Understanding of Engineering Principles

- Technical knowledge of construction/tunnelling techniques and best practices.

- Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system).

- Relevant CSCS Card

- Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS)

- Presentation Skills Training (inductions / briefings etc).

Desirable

City & Guilds BS th Edition - ESSENTIAL

2391 / 2394 / 2395 Testing & Inspection – ESSENTIAL

Previous experience within a healthcare, NHS or PFI environment – ESSENTIAL

Strong fault-finding and maintenance experience across building services.

Good knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) and statutory compliance.

Experience using CAFM maintenance management systems.

Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively.

Desirable Qualifications

ONC, HNC or HND in an Engineering discipline.

Authorised Person (AP) status in relevant disciplines.

Medical Gas (MGPS) experience.

Specialist Ventilation Systems experience.

HV/LV Authorisations.

IPAF.

Confined Space Training.

IOSH or NEBOSH.

IWFM qualification.
