- Lead and mentor the engineering team.
- Support the successful delivery of capital projects.
- Collaborate with production, planning, and engineering teams to optimise operations.
- Drive improvement plans alongside the Engineering Manager.
- Maintain CMMS systems.
Qualifications & Skills
- Competency in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
- Experience in a similar role such as (lead engineer, senior engineer, reliability engineer, reliability lead, maintenance manager)
- Experience delivering capital projects.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate engineering teams.
- Time-served engineer with a formal electrical/mechanical qualification.

- Familiarity with CMMS systems and stock control.

Desirable:

Your Role at Orange Logic:
- Define and execute reliability engineering strategy to ensure system availability, performance, and fault tolerance.
- Lead best practices in incident management, system design, and resiliency across teams.
- Manage and tune infrastructure alerts, observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana), and scalable monitoring systems.
- Drive adoption of SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets to guide engineering priorities.
- Oversee on-call processes, runbooks, and automation to reduce MTTR.
- Mentor engineers and foster a culture of learning, reviews, and knowledge-sharing.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (security, support, dev, devops) to enhance reliability.

Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years in SRE, DevOps, or production engineering with leadership experience.
- Strong expertise in distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Skilled in SQL, scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), observability stacks, and automated alerts.
- Knowledge of web protocols, networking, and API performance optimization.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, mentor teams, and communicate clearly.

Our client, a global aerospace company at its facility in Derby is looking for a Technical Lead or Subject Matter Expert on Gas Turbine Test Rigs. This role is pivotal within the business and within the program(s) they are assigned to. The Technical Lead carries the authority to decide the technical direction taken by a project and leads the technical team by determining the technical scope of work content. The Tech Lead role will work in close collaboration with the Program Manager and the Discipline Leads as well as maintain alignment to the Chief Engineer's advisory office.
The Technical Lead role is a central figure in the delivery of high-fidelity test rigs that support the validation and qualification of complex aerospace / turbo-machinery subsystems for their internal and external customers whilst controlling the scope of work pertinent to the program.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical execution of demonstration rig projects from requirements gathering to final delivery, ensuring performance, safety, and quality targets are met.
- Guide the design of mechanical structures, fluid systems, electrical/electronic controls, and instrumentation for rigs.
- Oversee and review CAD models, analysis models, detailed drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and BOMs, to ensure compliance with relevant aerospace standards and customer specifications.
- Provide leadership function and/or support for build, commissioning, and troubleshooting of rigs on-site or at customer locations.
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Manage technical documentation, including design reports, validation plans, and test procedures.
- Own the delivery of the program scope of work (in conjunction with the respective PM).
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical degree.
- Proven experience in modelling & draughting the complex gas turbine components
- Proven experience in the design and development of rotating machinery test rigs or ground support equipment.
- Proficient with mechanical CAD design, analysis methods, manufacturing, assembly and instrumentation.
- Ability to lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis during commissioning and test phases.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality systems is preferred.
