Job Description
The Event Producers are a core part of the Proms Live Events team that delivers all the events for the 8 week BBC Proms festival as well as some of Radio 3's major events. Working closely with the Head of Live Events and Event Producer, Operations & Technical your main role is to manage the logistical planning of Prom concerts through to the delivery of those events for live audiences and broadcast (Radio 3 and TV Music). You will have specific responsibility for complex proms in the season and oversee the day-to-day work of the Assistant Event Producers. To work closely with the Head of Live Events, Artistic Planning Team and other Event Producers to manage & produce technically complex Prom events to a high level at the Royal Albert Hall & other venues where relevant.
Responsibilities- To manage, brief and work collaboratively with a huge variety of stakeholders (internal and external) in particular Radio 3 & TV Music.
- To supervise the day-to-day work of the Assistant Event Producers on their allocation of Proms. Mentor and guide them.
- To design and produce event paperwork to a high standard - concert summaries, stage layouts & rehearsal schedules.
- To be responsible for briefing and supervising staff on events.
- To deliver events which comply with relevant Health & Safety legislation/procedures
- To manage the concert production budget and work closely with the Head of Live Events & Event Producer, Operations & Technical on other budgetary matters. Extensive knowledge and experience of artistic and logistical planning of complex classical and contemporary live events with multiple stakeholders, including a good understanding of sound, lighting and AV requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of how orchestras and choirs work.
- Extensive planning and organising skills; working both independently and as part of a team to manage several areas of work at a time; prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
- Experienced in successfully leading and empowering diverse event teams, staff, and ad hoc groups through motivation and collaborative leadership.
- Good ability to problem solve, manage event timelines, negotiate and organise live events within budget constraints.
- DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED: Good knowledge of Radio 3 & TV Music production and their output
- DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED: Good experience of forecasting and managing budgets

The successful candidate will work alongside three other data scientists, using their computing skills to multiply the story-finding and story-telling capacity of BBC Verify.
Main ResponsibilitiesThis is a role for a data scientist, programmer, or a mix of both who specialises in ingesting, analysing and explaining satellite data and who can work effectively in news as part of a multidisciplinary team. Their computing skills will enable the team to find new stories, to pick which story ideas to follow and to find stories faster from satellite imagery, APIs.
