SEN / SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities:
  • Planning each session of teaching / tutoring / mentoring
  • Providing the young person with holistic and engaging sessions which meet their needs and advance their educational and social-emotional journey
  • Completing lesson reports and providing feedback on the young person's progress
SEN / SEND Tutor requirements:
  • Professional Teaching Qualifications (Qualified Teacher Status / QTS / QTLS)
  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience
  • Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and / or other Additional Educational Needs
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
  • Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this at cost if needed)
  • Two professional references
  • You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote / online assignments

It is a strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people and follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

The Opportunity 

This 12-month placement offers a starting salary of £24,500 and the chance to work at one of our key nuclear sites. You’ll be part of a team that’s driving innovation and safety in the energy sector.

What You’ll Be Doing  

During your Engineering Industrial Placement, you’ll work within the Engineering Department at either Heysham 1 or 2. Past students have led projects to simplify operations, delivered mitigations in support of nuclear safety cases and worked with engineers to troubleshoot a number of live issues. They’ve also helped maintain condition monitoring programmes and produced reports underpinning equipment reliability. 

This placement offers practical learning in a professional environment, supported by experienced teams and mentors. You’ll apply academic knowledge to real industry contexts, with the opportunity to put your overalls on and go and have a look at the plant yourself, while completing degree-relevant modules and gaining insight into engineering within the energy sector. 

Your Work Location 

You’ll be based on site at either Heysham 1 or 2 Power Station (Lancashire), within the Engineering Department.

To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a bachelor’s degree (2:2 or higher) in Engineering.
