Key job responsibilities
As a Security Engineer, you'll help to build and manage services that detect and automate the mitigation of cybersecurity threats across Amazon's infrastructure. You'll work with data scientists, software development engineers, and other security engineers across multiple teams to develop innovative security solutions. Our services protect the AWS cloud for all customers and preserves our customers' trust in us. You'll get to use the full power and breadth of AWS technologies to build services that proactively protect AWS customers, both internally and externally, from security threats.
You will be working in a team of industry-leading security experts working with UK customers to operate and continuously improve industry-leading security programs and processes. This team manages the underlying security programs and processes for personnel security, physical and logical accreditations, education, awareness and training, assurance, and cyber security.
Basic Qualifications
Degree or Equivalent experience in a technical field. Experience of working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) performing security investigations, penetration testing and/or incident response in the context of large organisations
* Understanding of security threats, hands-on experience detecting and defending from
cyber-attacks, and experience using big data analytics and orchestration to address security challenges
* Ability to develop code with at least one modern language such as Java, Go, TypeScript, Python, Rust and security code review
Preferred Qualifications
* Understanding of the Mitre ATT&CK framework and knowledge of host and network telemetry data (e.g., process lists, application logs, NetFlow)
* Have awareness and understanding of current cyber security threats, actors and their techniques
* Experience with data science, big data analytics technology stack, analytic development for endpoint and network security, and streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming, and Kinesis)

Your new role


This is a genuinely interesting opportunity to enhance the organisation's security posture, at a good time when the company is expanding and are in need of expertise and guidance. This role will focus on information security policies, procedures, playbooks, moving to the cloud, and assurance. The business has recently moved into a new office, they're in the process of improving their benefits package, which is already strong. You will bring confidence and expertise in how the organisation can improve their cybersecurity strategy. You will be the first 100% cyber and infosec focussed employee. Key parts of the role:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Monitor, analyse and investigate security alerts, responding appropriately, documenting findings and collaborating with relevant teams.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, audits and penetration tests to identify potential vulnerabilities.
  • Investigate and propose new technologies which would help improve our security posture.
  • Coordinate with IT and other departments to ensure security measures are integrated into all systems and processes.
  • Manage and conclude third-party Cybersecurity assessments.
  • Manage and oversee the implementation of security tools and technologies.
  • Promote and conduct security awareness and training for employees.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Ideally, above 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or a related field.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with cloud and internet security.

Senior Cyber Security Engineer 

Are you a passionate Cyber Security Engineer with hands-on experience in deploying Microsoft security solutions and supporting clients with robust threat protection strategies?

This is a unique opportunity to join a well-established, award winning Managed Services Provider (MSP), known for its strong reputation in the UK tech market, to help deliver cutting-edge security solutions

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, client focused environment, is technically strong across Microsoft Security products, and wants to be part of a growing Cyber Security function embedded in a collaborative and ambitious team.

As a Cyber Security Engineer you will be Technically hands-on and confident working across client-facing and internal delivery environments and be passionate about cyber security innovation and best practices.

To be considered for this role you must have

  • A minimum 2 years’ experience in a Cyber Security role (ideally within an MSP or consultancy environment)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Defender suite including: XDR,  Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Business, Cloud , Cloud Apps, Office 365, including Endpoint Detection and Response.
  • Good experience of Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM)
  • Knowledge of Azure firewalls
  • Networking and firewall solutions expertise with the like of (Cisco Meraki, Fortinet,  Ubiquiti. WatchGuard)
  • Vulnerability management tool expertise (Tenable, Qualys)
  • Email security solutions Knowledge (Mimecast, Egress)
  • A Working understanding of Microsoft 365 Cloud Technologies and their threat landscape
  • Familiarity with SOC operations, threat detection, incident response, and security analytics

As a Cyber security Engineer you should have one or more of

  • SC-200  - Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate
  • SC-300 - Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
  • AZ-500 - Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • OSCP - Offensive Security Certified Professional
  • CEH, CISSP, CompTIA Security+ are beneficial 
  • but not essential.

Reporting into the PMO  and Senior Executives you 
will:

  • Assist in delivering Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus (CE & CE+) audits, ensuring clients meet security compliance standards
  • Provide escalation support for complex cyber incidents raised by the internal SOC team
  • Perform technical vulnerability remediation, threat analysis, and reporting
  • Conduct Microsoft 365 and Cloud Security assessments to identify gaps and secure client environments
  • Carry out offensive security and web  application assessments (including penetration testing support)
  • Collaborate with the CISO and Security Team  to support pre- sales activities, assist with client onboarding and deliver professional security consultations
  • Onboard clients into key security platforms and ensure a smooth transition to managed  services
  • Support wider project delivery, working closely with the Project Management Office
