Your new role
As Practice Manager / Senior Accountant, you will oversee a diverse client portfolio while supporting the Partners with the day-to-day management of the practice. This is a hands-on role combining client-facing responsibilities, technical accounting expertise and team leadership.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, sole traders and limited companies
- Reviewing accounts, tax returns and management accounts prepared by junior team members
- Preparing statutory accounts in line with current accounting standards
- Advising clients on accounting, tax and business matters
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting the development and mentoring of junior accountants
- Managing workflow, deadlines and resource planning across the practice
- Assisting with practice growth initiatives and identifying opportunities within the client base
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and professional standards
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:
- ACA or ACCA qualification (or be qualified by experience within practice)
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
- Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, corporation tax and personal tax
- Experience reviewing work and supervising junior staff
- Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- A commercial and proactive approach to client service
- Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage would be advantageous
