Excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join us on an FTC for 7 months
- You will join a modern and well-equipped Small Animal GP RCVS Accredited practice, silver awards in both ISFM and RWAF that has been open since 2018.
- This role is ideally for 30 hours a week working 3 long days - however if you are looking for different still speak to us and we can try to accommodate you. This will include 1 in 5 Saturdays
- No OOHs or on call.
- Become part of 5 Vet, 4 RVN, 2 SVN, 1 VCA and 4 CCA supportive team
- Excellent CPD allowance and Benefits. Certificates and CPD funded and actively encouraged.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience - you must be comfortable with sole charge
- Locally owned and run with wider support from Vets for Pets.

About Us
We opened East Kilbride Vets4Pets in 2018, Joint Venture Partners are Lorna Green RVN CertVNECC NCert(Anaesth) and Jennifer Laming RVN CertVNES. We have a team of 3 full time and 2 part time Vets, who are at varied levels of experience and have a diverse skill set, with one recently completing a certificate in medicine! We have 4 full time experienced Nurses (2 who have 10 + years' experience and multiple certificates between them) and 2 Student Nurses, who all engage in many schedule 3 duties. We have a dedicated client care team of 3 full time and 1 part time CCAs. In addition to our colleagues, we have a mixture of volunteers, Vet students on EMS and Nursing students on placement as we are a nurse training practice.
We are Small Animal GP RCVS Accredited practice (around 40% dog, 40% cat, 15% Rabbit and 5% mixed between small furries, reptiles and birds), with the ability to work up and follow through a wide variety of cases. We currently hold silver awards in both ISFM and RWAF, which we hope to gain Gold awards in the future. We have full in-house lab facilities (IDEXX Catalyst, Procyte, Snap Pro, UA analyser and the Sedivue), Digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, multiparameter monitors and individual cat, dog and isolation/exotics wards.
The surgery itself is within the Pets At Home store at the East Kilbride Retail Park (G74 4ZA), at the end of East Kilbride Express way, which joins directly with the Raith interchange on the M74 making it an easy commute from Glasgow and the surrounding areas.
We have now been open for almost 7 years and have an established and loyal client base. As a team we like to keep as up to date as possible with surgical techniques and medical treatments and provide gold standard pet care.
About You
As the ideal candidate to join our team, you will have good general consulting, surgical and medical skills and have some experience in emergency surgery. You will also be confident working sole charge, as you will be the sole charge vet at weekends on your rota, with the nursing and reception team.

- To provide leadership and management of staff within the department, leading on recruitment and performance management.
- To manage the activities of departmental staff, ensuring effective organistion in the team, and delivery of outstanding teachign and learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve the curriculum, incorporating the latest industry trends and advancements.
Requirements:
- A related degree or equivalent
- A level 5 teaching qualification
- A minimum of 1 years succesful leadership experience
- Leadership/Management qualifications/experience desirable
