Key job responsibilities
As a Security Engineer, youu2019ll help to build and manage services that detect and automate the mitigation of cybersecurity threats across Amazonu2019s infrastructure. Youu2019ll work with data scientists, software development engineers, and other security engineers across multiple teams to develop innovative security solutions. Our services protect the AWS cloud for all customers and preserves our customersu2019 trust in us. Youu2019ll get to use the full power and breadth of AWS technologies to build services that proactively protect AWS customers, both internally and externally, from security threats.
You will be working in a team of industry-leading security experts working with UK customers to operate and continuously improve industry-leading security programs and processes. This team manages the underlying security programs and processes for personnel security, physical and logical accreditations, education, awareness and training, assurance, and cyber security.
Basic Qualifications
Degree or Equivalent experience in a technical field. Experience of working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) performing security investigations, penetration testing and/or incident response in the context of large organisations
* Understanding of security threats, hands-on experience detecting and defending from
cyber-attacks, and experience using big data analytics and orchestration to address security challenges
* Ability to develop code with at least one modern language such as Java, Go, TypeScript, Python, Rust and security code review
Preferred Qualifications
* Understanding of the Mitre ATT&CK framework and knowledge of host and network telemetry data (e.g., process lists, application logs, NetFlow)
* Have awareness and understanding of current cyber security threats, actors and their techniques
* Experience with data science, big data analytics technology stack, analytic development for endpoint and network security, and streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming, and Kinesis)

- Experience with AWS products and services
- Experience with any combination of the following: threat modeling, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic AWS DevSecOps Security Lead to join our team. This critical role is designed for a security-first professional who will take ownership and leadership of our AWS security initiatives. The AWS Security Lead will be responsible for ensuring the security and compliance of our AWS environments, implementing best practices, and leading a team of security professionals. This role is pivotal in safeguarding our cloud infrastructure and data, driving our security strategy, and ensuring the highest levels of protection against emerging threats.
Please Note : This role will require hands on technical experience as well as design and architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive AWS security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Monitor and manage security incidents and vulnerabilities across AWS environments.
- Collaborate with IT, Development, Product, DevOps, and Operations teams to help design and assist to deploy secure cloud architectures.
- Conduct regular security assessments, audits, and compliance checks.
- Provide training and support on AWS security practices to internal teams.
- Lead incident response efforts and forensic investigations for security breaches.
- Automate security controls, data, and processes to improve metrics and operational support.
- Stay current with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
- Develop and execute security strategies for cloud-based applications and infrastructure.
- Take full ownership of AWS security operations and proactively lead security initiatives.
- Optimise configurations to enhance security posture and maintain compliance.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with wide range of AWS services
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud security and related services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, IAM).
- Proficiency in security tools and technologies such as AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, and IAM.
- Strong understanding of compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Hands-on experience with systems automation and deployment tools (e.g., Terraform, Jenkins).
- Ability to translate security and technical requirements into business requirements.
- Strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven track record of leading security teams and owning security operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified Security – Speciality, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Advanced Networking Speciality
- Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation purposes.
- Experience with security architectures and designing secure cloud solutions.
- Knowledge of advanced security concepts, including encryption, identity and access management, and threat modelling.
Work Environment:
- This is a hybrid role with 2/3 days in the office
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure security measures are uniformly implemented.
Measuring Success:
- Success in this role will be measured by the effectiveness of security strategies and their implementation.
- Key metrics include the reduction of security incidents, adherence to compliance standards, and successful audits.
- The ability to optimise configurations and maintain a robust security posture is critical.
