The Role
Banking Specialist
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Finance Team at the Smurfit Westrock Liverpool office. Reporting to the Treasury Accountant, the successful candidate will be responsible for Banking activities for UK & Ireland with an emphasis on maintaining highest quality of service to our internal customers. Process improvement, policy compliance and maximising relationships with both internal and external stakeholders are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing allocations and reporting on unallocated cash allocations for UK, especially relating to month end closing activities li>Review Bank Suspense accounts and conduct analysis on use of cheque deposits, with a drive to reduce
- SOX Activities including production of monthly bank reconciliations, SSU mandates with the possibility of increased activities depending on SSU scope
- Identify opportunities for streamlining all processes and increase use of AI.
- Intercompany Direct Debit allocations and review of IHC (In House Cash) Accounts
- Central co-ordinator for Credit Control / Credit Management activities including Customer Master Data, Supply Chain Finance and process improvements
- Ensuring you follow agreed financial controls and business processes.
- Managing the key relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Working collaboratively with the Management Team where required.
- Conducting all payments for Smurfit Westrock UK & Ireland Corrugated, including a thorough review of all relevant master data (Cover Only)
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Strong transactional and system experience.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal & external stakeholders
- The ability to plan and prioritise work generated from multiple sources and to ensure effective communication and redirection of general finance queries
- Highly numerate and analytical
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate financial matters to a broad range of audiences
- High levels of IT literacy overall
- Self-motivated and strong team player with drive to continue own development
- Positive 'can do' attitude with flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
- Always act with a professional manner especially in times where policies may be challenged
