Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be based within a speech and language resource base. You will be supporting a small class of 12 pupils, taking a pupil-centred approach to their education as to ensure that the individual needs and personalities are met, which will in turn ensure that each student reaches their full academic potential. As you will be supporting pupils with speech and language requirements (ranging from non-verbal to selective mutism), you will lead on speech and language interventions, using phonics, Letters and Sounds, Makaton, PECs and associative techniques to promote engagement and attainment outcomes. As well as leading on interventions, you will at times work alongside external professionals, including a speech and language psychologist.
What you'll need to succeed
