**QUALIFICATIONS**
It is anticipated that you will be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer. It is expected that this experience will include the following:
+ Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment, gained from working on both construction sites and the design office;
+ Practical knowledge and experience of project management of bridge projects;
+ Proven knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of structures related projects together with a track record of innovation in design and management of structures. Ideally this should include new build, maintenance, assessment and strengthening of bridges and civil structures infrastructure;
+ Proven working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW) in relation to structural schemes;
+ Understanding and experience of use of Eurocodes and their application to bridge design;
+ Experience of design in or assessment of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures;
+ Experience of grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software packages such as LUSAS, Superstress and SAM;
+ Good communication, client handling and interpersonal skills are essential, plus a willingness to adapt to new challenges and to actively participate in the development of the bridges team.

You will join our Bridges team in Gloucester, right at the start of WSPs long-term professional services contract for Gloucestershire County Council (GCC). Under this collaborative contract we are based in the client's office, directly support our client's officers and share a set of delivery objectives.
You will work within a team of established professionals with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the varied structures within the county. You will be further supported by structures colleagues from across WSP who provide additional resources and specialist expertise to deliver high quality services across the county.

This position can be considered for a full-time or part-time basis,
The team is busy with bridge and civil engineering work for a variety of clients, including National Highways, Network Rail, D&B Contractors and local authorities. We are currently mobilising additional teams to deliver a large portfolio of structures work for the North-West and East of England regions of the Scheme Delivery Framework for National Highways.
You will be expected to take a leading role across the region for all aspects of project delivery, financial performance, client relationships and people development, with a particular emphasis on our Scheme Delivery Framework with National Highways.

**A little more about your role .**
We are looking for a an Assistant Engineer or Engineer to join our team.
This position will see you undertake engineering activities within the Cambridge Bridges Team, in respect of both design and consultancy services, predominantly in the design, assessment or inspection of highway and rail-related structures.
In this role your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering specific civil/structural engineering tasks and contributing to the civil engineering input to multi disciplinary infrastructure engineering projects;
- Maintenance of own working knowledge across aspects of civil/structural engineering and contribute to developing WSP company expertise;
- Build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, partners and clients, and contribute to marketing of company to potential customers;
- Observation of all company Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental commercial and project management disciplines and procedures, as relevant to tasks undertaken.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- MEng in Civil and/or Structural Engineering degree and have some relevant post-graduate experience in Railways and Bridges Projects. You should also have:
- Highly motivated, and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision;
- Committed to personal and professional development;
- Good team-working skills, particularly in relation to the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects;
- Good communication skills at all levels, both in oral presentations and written reports;
- Good problem-solving skills.
