Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to lead our clients yard and transport operations at a busy Builders Merchants. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth, safe and efficient running of day-to-day activities, with responsibility for managing teams, maintaining high standards of customer service and ensuring compliance across both functions.

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  • Coordinate with internal teams to manage stock levels, deliveries and collections.
  • Ensure company compliance of all policies, legislations and procedures.

  • Be involved in strategic development and improvements to the business.
  • Oversee transport co-ordination.

  • Ensure housekeeping is well maintained including presentation of the branch.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records.

Experience and skills required for this position:

  • Previous foreman/management experience ideally within a builders merchants, logistics, construction or distribution environment.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.
  • Forklift truck licence would be ideal but not essential.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Someone who is keen to manage and develop the team.
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset with the ability to make quick, informed decisions.

The client is looking for Planning Engineers with various levels of experience, from those looking to take the next step in their career up to Senior Planning Engineer level, to more experienced planners looking for an exciting challenge offering excellent long term career possibilities. 

The positions will be based at the Hinkley 'C' site near Bridgwater, Somerset (TA5 1UD) 3 days/week, with the rest worked from home. Candidates will be required to obtain nuclear site security clearance for this role.

Whilst previous nuclear industry experience would be useful, this is not essential - prior experience supporting large regulated industry projects (e.g. oil and gas, rail, defence, petrochemical, marine, etc) would be equally well suited and happily considered.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will be:

  • Support the IPC Planning Manager and/or PCM in the implementation and maintenance of Integrated Project Controls processes for Planning, including the production of monthly reports, through the provision of intelligent information and analysis
  • Collaborate with other Disciplines of Integrated Project Controls, as well as other Project Support Functions, to help deliver Project goals in keeping with the HPC principles of Trust, Transparency and Teamwork
  • Maintain an awareness of schedule interfaces with other Programmes and their potential impact
  • Produce and maintain the schedule baseline IWS in Primavera 6 (P6), with fully logic-linked work plans aligned to the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilising approved construction techniques
  • Ensure the Level 2 IWS is updated to an agreed timeframe for monthly reporting
  • Ensure the HPC Level 3 schedules are updated when required to reflect work progress and performance, to an agreed timeframe defined by the Central Controls Team
  • Ensure that contractor schedules are produced in accordance with HPC processes and ensure that they align to the IWS forecast position
  • Maintain daily and weekly work planning in 4D model
  • Provide quality checks on the Scheduling data
 

Qualifications

  • HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction or other related field
  • Proven relevant experience in a Project Management or Project Controls environment in a similar Scheduling role
  • Experience in the use of scheduling software, ideally Primavera P6 version 7 and above
