Our client an established and expanding Software house who are situated in Norfolk, East Anglia are seeking applications from experienced Business Intelligence Developers to work on a permanent basis. This is a remote / homes-based opportunity.

Opportunity Summary

As a Business Intelligence Developer your responsibilities will include participating in the entire software development life cycle, debugging applications, and configuring existing systems. The design and build of data analytics platforms, repositories, data flows and toolsets. We are looking for someone who can help shape and build the business data analytics capabilities on key projects whilst working closely with full stack developers to achieve this. Ultimately, you’ll use experience in data analytics technologies to help develop and deploy high-quality applications, leveraging the latest Microsoft stack technologies on an ever-growing Azure platform.

Responsibilities

  • Write clean, testable code favouring Microsoft technology on an Azure platform
  • Assist with development of technical specifications and architecture
  • Design, build and deploy data repositories, BI solutions and data analytics/reporting platforms
  • Create tools to store data (Data lakes, OLAP cubes, data dictionaries and schemas etc)
  • Test and debug various .Net applications
  • Review and refactor code
  • Work closely with business areas focussed on data analytics and business intelligence
  • Support developers in their work
  • Recommend and execute improvements

Requirements

  • Proven track record as a .Net Developer
  • Proven track record in BI development
  • Background in data repository design and data mining
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, OLAP, ETL etc
  • Familiarity with data and BI technologies
  • Expert knowledge of SQL
  • Familiarity with agile environments
  • Troubleshooting abilities

The BI Developer is an interim role where you will design, develop, and maintain BI solutions that support financial planning, analysis, and reporting needs. You will work closely with Finance, IT, and other business units to turn data into actionable insights, enabling strategic and operational decision-making.

  • Design and develop financial dashboards, reports, and visualisations using Power BI and develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and views for financial data analysis and reporting
  • Support in the development of finance platforms such as Finance specific PowerApps, Chatbots and other AI tools working closely with IT under organisational data governance framework
  • Collaborate with finance teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions and work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements
  • Review data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure timely and accurate financial data delivery
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across reports and dashboards through automated data quality checks.

Note: This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

What do you need to bring to the team?

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in BI development, preferably with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google BigQuery) and within a financial environment
  • Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker and strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
  • Experience working with financial data and understanding of accounting principles and familiarity with ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Talend, Informatica)
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Knowledge of Python or R for data analysis or automation and familiarity with ERP systems like IFS, SAP, NetSuite, or Microsoft D365.
