Service Engineer role available in a highly successful and international manufacturer of forklift trucks. You’ll enjoy a local field based role offering comprehensive on the job training, extensive benefits package and progression routes.
The Service Engineer role will be suitable for engineers from any kind of plant, forklifts, HGV, agricultural or similar equipment. This is also a great career opportunity for vehicle technicians looking to move into a new industry as the company will fully train. You need to demonstrate mechanical service and repair skills, ideally have engine diagnostic and some basic electrical skills.
The company are a manufacturer of forklift trucks. Part of a team in the area, you'll be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance and breakdown coverage on a range of forklifts and associated equipment in and around Leicester & Rugby Territory. No stay away or extensive travel is required. Overtime is available if desired mostly in the week.
The Service Engineer Role in Brief:
*Carry out PPM and breakdown on materials handling machinery on a field service engineering basis

Working from home, as Field Service Engineer, you will respond to customer emails and calls, troubleshooting and providing support, and visit sites when required.
Visiting customers throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe, you will perform machine inspections, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting and installation, and also customer training.
Where appropriate, whilst visiting customers you will recommend products and services to resolve customer needs.
When required, you will work at the main Service Centre supporting the Sales and Service teams, reporting service opportunities for follow up.
As a product expert, you will train and coach new field service engineers and provide support to the service sales team.

Experience:
As the successful Field Service Engineer, you will have worked in a similar sector - semiconductor, precision optics, ophthalmic optics, thin film optics, as Service Engineer.
You should be confident in reading, interpreting technical documentation (flow diagrams, electrical diagrams, P&ID, Maintenance Manuals etc.)
Qualifications:
Essential for this role is a formal qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering or Process Automation. (Certificate, Diploma or Degree)
You should also hold an Electrical Certification such as the 16th/17th /18th Edition Wiring Regulations or equivalent.
Additional Information:
Candidates MUST have a Full Clean UK driving licence.
Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK. Copies of Visa and Passport will be requested.
This is a Field based role, therefore you MUST be comfortable travelling and staying away from home for onsite visits in UK and Europe.

Summary of Job:
Working with the Service Manager and liaising with the Service Controllers to service and repair forklift trucks at customers sites.
Responsibilities
Onsite Customer Forklift Trucks Repairs
Repair of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components.
Repairing hydraulic valves and rams.
Repairing final drive and gearbox components.
Repairing engines and components.
Inspecting and providing quotes to customers regarding repairs, in close liaison with the Service Manager.
To identify additional chargeable repairs that can be quoted to the customer.
Onsite Customer Forklift Truck Servicing
Responsible for servicing LPG, diesel and electric powered forklift trucks to a high standard, and with a view to preventative maintenance.
Using a check sheet ensure the equipment is fully functional, and conforms to current legislation.
Changing the oil, filters, etc as necessary.
To carry out Thorough Examinations pending qualifications.
To identify additional chargeable repairs that can be quoted to the customer.
Onsite Customer Overhaul of Forklift Trucks
Responsible for completing a partial or full strip-down of LPG, diesel or electric forklift trucks.
Onsite Customer Battery Maintenance
Check voltages and gravities of traction batteries using meters and hydrometers.
Complete a battery survey and report on it as required.
Engineer Administration
Responsible for time entry, job reporting, parts requests and customer sign off using a tablet.
Liaising with the Service Manager and the Parts Controller as necessary.
Any other reasonable duties related to this role.
Education/Qualifications:
Essential:
City and Guilds or BTEC qualification in a related field of relevance to the Forklift industry, or similar qualification.
Desirable:
Thorough Examination Qualifications.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
Good customer facing skills.
Experience in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering in heavy goods / plant machinery / automotive.
Holds a valid UK driving licence.
If relevant, to hold a valid permit to work in the UK.
Able to work unsupervised as required.
