Our client, a leading innovator in the chemical manufacturing sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join their esteemed technical team in Derby, Derbyshire, UK . This role is crucial for optimizing existing processes, developing new manufacturing techniques, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency in our chemical production facilities.

The Senior Chemical Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting chemical processes from laboratory scale to full-scale production. Key duties include process simulation and modeling, developing process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), conducting hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations. You will also play a key role in process scale-up, yield improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.

We are looking for an individual with a strong academic background, holding a Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, coupled with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in process design and optimization within the chemical industry. Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and a thorough understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics are essential. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to lead complex projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for new and existing products.
  • Create and interpret process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
  • Conduct process simulations and modeling to predict performance and identify improvements.
  • Perform HAZOP studies and other risk assessments to ensure process safety.
  • Manage process scale-up activities from pilot plant to commercial production.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and yield.
  • Develop and implement process control strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, and engineering teams to achieve project goals.
Qualifications:

Equipment Operation and Optimization:

  • Setup, validate and monitor wet chemical processes.

Process Development and Improvement:
