Phasecraft is the quantum algorithms company. We are building the mathematical foundations for quantum computing applications that solve real-world problems. Founded in 2019 by Toby Cubitt, Ashley Montanaro, and John Morton, we are based in London and Bristol in the UK and opened an office in Washington DC in 2024, led by Steve Flammia. In 2023, we completed a £13m Series A funding round led by leading Silicon Valley deep tech VC, Playground Global.

Phasecraft's unprecedented access to today's best quantum computers - through partnerships with Google, IBM, Quantinuum and QuEra - provides us with unique opportunities to develop foundational IP, inform the development of next-generation quantum hardware, and accelerate the commercialisation of high-value breakthroughs.

We are now looking to hire a Chief of Staff to join our team. We are seeking a highly driven, commercially astute professional to work closely with our Co-Founders on the smooth running and scaling of our UK and US offices. This is a fast paced, high impact role that will suit someone who thrives in a dynamic, execution focused environment.

Job Description

Work closely with the Co-Founders on any tasks required for the smooth running of the business, such as:

  • Act as the point person for operational matters not covered by business development, research operations or policy teams, including unplanned or urgent situations and special projects
  • Lead major operational projects as required, e.g.:
    • Setting up a new office or subsidiary
    • Administering processes around acquisitions or restructuring
  • Support ongoing fundraising activities, investor relationship management, and investor reporting
  • Support CEO and VP Business Development on go-to-market research and planning
  • Prepare materials (with VP Global Communications and CEO) for investor updates, board meetings and investor pitches
  • Manage corporate administration, including Companies House filings, EIS compliance, and US equivalents
  • Draft company policies in collaboration with other senior operations and science team members
  • Ensure that information and best practices are propagated throughout the organisation
  • Oversee operational aspects of UK and US offices, including:
    • Landlord liaison and contract negotiations
    • Space planning and allocation
    • AV setup and maintenance

Requirements

  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, high growth environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record in operations, strategy, or chief of staff type roles
  • Ability to travel between Phasecraft offices and elsewhere.

We're a well-established, community-rooted charity working across Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil. Our mission is simple but powerful: to support older people-especially those who are vulnerable, isolated, or living in poverty-to live well, stay connected, and feel valued.

With over 45 years of trusted service, an ambitious three-year strategy ("Together for Older People"), and a dedicated team of over 60 staff and 100+ volunteers, we're ready for a new Chief Executive Officer to steer the ship into its next chapter.

The Role

This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-impact, purpose-driven business through its most ambitious phase of evolution. As CEO, you will drive the transformation from a manufacturing-led business to a market-leading provider of business services, encompassing data analytics, network management, consultancy, and equipment servicing. You will inspire and motivate an executive team and wider organisation, shaping a positive, values-led culture and delivering on the ambition to be the recognised leader in EV charging infrastructure. The CEO will set strategic direction, build market presence, and ensure operational excellence, balancing the rigour of an established manufacturer with the dynamism of a fast-growing services business. The role will demand hands-on engagement with operational detail, as well as the credibility to engage clients, partners, investors, and industry bodies at the highest level.

The Person

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of senior leadership at CEO or equivalent executive level within a relevant sector (infrastructure, energy, logistics, transport, technology, or services). Experience of driving business transformation and navigating disruptive market change is essential, alongside strong commercial acumen, with direct experience scaling revenues and delivering on ambitious business targets. Strong communication, sound judgement, and high emotional intelligence are essential, as you guide high-performing teams through change with clarity, resilience, and a sharp focus on results.
