Are you passionate about supporting students with severe Special Educational Needs? Do you have experience working with young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), nonverbal communication needs, and emotional regulation challenges?
We are recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary schools resourced provision in East Ham. This role involves working closely with students who have severe SEN, including ASD and nonverbal communication, supporting their learning, emotional wellbeing, and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing tailored support to students with severe SEN within the resourced provision.
- Assisting with communication using alternative methods for nonverbal students.
- Supporting students through emotional dysregulation episodes with patience and understanding.
- Collaborating with teaching staff and therapists to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
- Creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for students to thrive.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting students with severe SEN, ASD, and emotional regulation needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and supportive during emotional dysregulation.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to inclusive education.
- Previous experience in a secondary school setting is preferred but not essential.
