WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of DevOps to lead our DevOps chapter. In this role, you will drive the adoption of DevOps best practices, ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our systems, and foster collaboration among development, operations, and other stakeholders. This leadership position combines strategic thinking with technical expertise to deliver efficient, automated, and high-performing software delivery pipelines.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  1. Define and execute the organization's DevOps strategy, aligning with business goals and technology roadmaps.
  2. Champion a DevOps culture across teams, fostering collaboration between development, operations, QA, and security teams.
  3. Identify and implement innovative tools, practices, and technologies to enhance CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and system reliability.
  4. Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing DevOps team, including engineers and specialists.
  5. Set clear goals, manage performance, and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  6. Oversee resource allocation to meet delivery and operational goals efficiently.
  7. Architect, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable, and repeatable software delivery.
  8. Drive automation initiatives across the development lifecycle, including testing, deployment, and infrastructure provisioning.
  9. Ensure systems and services are designed for scalability, reliability, and maintainability from the ground up.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 5+ years in leadership roles within DevOps, infrastructure, or software engineering.
  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi).
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, CircleCI) and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
  • Solid understanding of security best practices, compliance standards, and DevSecOps.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

**Purpose of this Role**
Affirm national standards have been achieved and upheld
Monitor through external examiner sampling and visit activities, centres' compliance with Pearson quality assurance expectations for RQF BTEC Higher National programmes
Support centres during the sampling process
Support centres in the delivery of BTEC Higher National programmes to national standards.
**Key Accountabilities**
Covering a defined range of programmes within a sector, the External Examiner (EE) will:
Undertake sampling of assessed student work within defined parameters and rules to establish that centres are assessing learning outcomes in accordance with Pearson standards for its Higher National qualifications
Provide sampling-related support and development to centres
Produce reports for centres and Pearson on the sampling undertaken, outcomes reached, and support provided
Apply appropriate sanctions in consultation with the team leader where it is deemed assessment outcomes are not consistent with the published national standards being met
Produce targeted actions for centres to assist with remedial actions where national standards are not being upheld
Support centres to understand and implement identified actions
Facilitate the Senior External Examiner (SEE) in sourcing materials for training and standardisation
Report back to Pearson and centres following EE activity within agreed service-level agreements
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the work of Technical and Professional Assessment in relation to this role
**Previous Experience:** **Essential:**
Significant experience in delivering and assessing BTEC Higher National qualifications in the subject area
Hold a qualification at least at Level 6 and a full and relevant competence qualification for working in the sector
Participation annually in online training and standardisation and successful completion of the set standardisation activity
**Desirable:**
Evidence of recent Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in the sector
A willingness to use technology-based approaches to communication and centre support
**Skills and Knowledge** **Essential:**
Excellent communication, written, verbal, IT and interpersonal skills
Good working knowledge of the specifications that comprise the area of expertise for the role
A customer-focused approach
The need to meet deadlines
Develop and monitor clear action plans
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
**Desirable:**
Word processing and intermediate Excel skills

Job Description:

Darktrace is seeking to grow our team of Cloud Solutions Engineers. This fast-paced, high-profile, customer-focused role will support our EMEA sales teams on our largest customer opportunities in Cloud.

You will use your expertise to provide technical pre-sales guidance, partnering with account teams to drive revenue growth and further the adoption of our cloud products. As a key technical expert, you'll be a go-to leader within the field for both customers and internal teams.

What will I be doing:
  • Helping to secure client multi-cloud environments using Cyber AI, sharing your passion and deep knowledge of cloud provider suites in this client-facing role at the cutting edge of cybersecurity solutions.
  • Using your technical excellence to meet client and account team needs, ultimately leading to increased revenue and client satisfaction. Day to day you'll be:

Partnering with account and leadership teams to develop cloud-specific sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth objectives, supporting customers through demos and Proof of Value, positioning Darktrace in their cloud environments, identifying new opportunities for upsells by developing strong technical relationships with customers and channel partners, sharing insights via technology reviews and product findings, supporting the design of deployment plans and architectures for customers, and aligning with key Darktrace partners to drive Cloud products.

What experience do I need:

We welcome applications from candidates with a strong track record as a software sales engineer or technical account manager, with expertise in at least one cloud service provider platform. Ideally, you will have relevant certifications and strong knowledge of both on-premise and cloud networking. You will likely have:

  • Knowledge of CNAPP/CSPM/CDR/CIDR and related Cloud Security technologies
  • Experience supporting consultative selling through technical expertise
  • Strong and polished communication skills to share complex information compellingly
  • The ability to build lasting business relationships
  • A collaborative approach, guiding where needed to ensure team success
  • Fluency in English

Job Purpose

The role holder will specialise in Azure, leading in architecting, implementing, and optimizing cloud solutions to ensure the design of scalable and resilient architectures.

The primary remit of the role extends to supporting and maintaining the Cloud Based Microsoft Enterprise configurations incorporating the M365 ecosystem, Entra ID, Azure Cloud Services and the Microsoft Security stack including Defender for Cloud, Defender for Office, Defender for Identity and Defender for Cloud Apps.

Main Duties

  • To design, implement, and manage Azure cloud solutions based on the Azure Well Architected Framework's five pillars and the Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF).
  • Responsible for the implementation of Azure cloud solutions, such as deploying resources, configuring settings, testing functionality, monitoring performance, and documenting outcomes.
  • To lead Azure cloud projects and initiatives, such as migration, modernization, automation, and innovation, and ensure alignment with business objectives and requirements.
  • To collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and partners to define cloud architecture vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • To evaluate and recommend new and emerging cloud technologies and solutions to improve performance, scalability, availability, and security of Azure cloud environment.
  • To ensure that the Microsoft services infrastructure is configured, implemented and managed in accordance with accepted technical and operational standards.
  • To contribute to the design, implementation and management of the virtualised Microsoft services architecture.
  • To drive automation of the implementation, maintenance and alerting of the Microsoft services environment.
  • To provide a fault analysis and diagnostic service for the Microsoft Services infrastructure and be responsible for corresponding problem management and resolution.
  • To monitor, and report on the service quality and operational resilience of the Microsoft Services infrastructure using appropriate management tools and techniques.
  • To assist with risk assessment and business continuity planning for the Microsoft services infrastructure and ensure all service deployments are resilient.

Please note you may not have 100% of these skills, however if you are ticking 60/70% of the boxes, still apply, as there are opportunities here to progress further with extra training/certifications all the way up to architecture level.
