About the Role
Join Telent's Engineering Team and take the lead in shaping the future of critical national infrastructure. As a Lead Engineer / Technical Manager, you'll drive innovation, lead high-performing technical teams, and deliver cutting-edge multi-technology solutions across Network, Infrastructure, Datacentre, Security, and Virtualisation domains. If you have proven leadership experience and a passion for complex, impactful engineering work, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do:
Lead, coach, and develop engineering teams to deliver efficient, cost-effective solutions.
Manage technical design, delivery, and lifecycle adherence for key projects.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and right-first-time delivery across services and projects.
Oversee resource planning and capacity management aligned to project needs.
Provide technical governance and mitigate risks on complex multi-technology initiatives.
Support product and solution development aligned with business roadmaps.
Who You Are:
You are a strategic technical leader with a strong track record of managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams. You combine broad technical expertise in networking, infrastructure, virtualization, security, and datacentre environments with excellent communication, leadership, and commercial skills. You thrive in dynamic environments, guiding teams through complex project delivery and driving customer-focused innovation.
Key Requirements:
5+ years' experience leading technical teams.
Deep technical knowledge across Networking, Infrastructure, Datacentre, Virtualisation & Security.
Proven success delivering complex multi-technology solutions.
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
Commercial awareness with experience in pre-sales, bids, and customer engagement.
Expertise in engineering management, project delivery, and change leadership.
Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving abilities.
Familiarity with vendor certifications (Networks, Compute, Storage, Virtualisation) and design qualifications (TOGAF or equivalent) is a plus.
Solid understanding of ITIL and Agile/Waterfall methodologies.

+ Landing Zones & Projects/Accounts - AWS Control Tower, GCP Resource Manager, etc.
+ Network - AWS Transit Gateway, GCP Shared VPC, AWS Route53, GCP Cloud DNS, etc.
+ Observability - AWS OpenSearch, GCP Monitoring/Traces, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, etc.
+ **Automation Prowess:** Hands-on experience with modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation tools and frameworks (Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, etc.).
+ **Software Development Acumen:** A software development background is highly desirable, specifically architecting or developing microservices using Java/Spring Boot to automate infrastructure deployment.

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture and implementation
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for: Technical Architect with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure implementation experience.
They will be part of the Digital Enterprise Services ERP platform team supporting the Bank’s Finance Modernisation Programme, to build and manage cloud-based infrastructure and solutions with the Bank’s Systems Integrator, working alongside a fantastic programme team and reporting into the Technology ERP Platform Lead.

The respective individual must be able to work independently, produce foundational, simple, robust, and maintainable solutions, which they implement, document, and deliver.
Have the technical authority and experience to obtain the necessary internal solution design compliance and be able to manage senior stake holders across the business and technology. –
Own and deliver foundational platform solution designs from conception through to implementation and operational handover.
• Be responsible for obtaining Bank attestation for each platform solution and service through the appropriate cyber and infrastructure design authorities.
• Ensure each platform solution and service meets the Bank’s security controls and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Manage and maintain platform design artefacts, technical configuration, and service continuity runbooks in the Banks document management and collaboration services.
- Deliver handover support for implemented platform solutions and services to operational teams.
- Manage cloud-based infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage solutions and networking components.
- Work as part of a team to implement and manage OCI PaaS and SaaS services. - Ensure these are optimized for OCI and that they meet Bank’s requirements.
- Know how to proficiently use and supervise the use of container deployment and orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes).
- Manage backup and DR strategies using Oracle Managed Automatic Backups as well as Object Storage and Autonomous Data Guard
- Configure, manage, audit and alert on the availability and performance of the OCI environment.
- Manage the performance of OCI resources, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues.
- Make changes to optimize system/platform performance.
- Provide oversight and technical assurance on project solution designs to be hosted on the platform.
