**About the opportunity**
Energy Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Amentum are seeking an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to work on the HPC project, to carry out roles under the profile of Electrical Commissioning Engineer. Engineers will normally be aligned to either HV, LV, DC or generator systems but will be expected to work across all electrical disciplines at times during the contract period. This includes system voltages at 400kV, 10kV, 400VAC, 690VAC 220VDC and control voltages. The engineer must be able to work with plans and meet tight deadlines. Key responsibilities will be:
+ Contribute to team meetings
+ Liaise with the designer
+ Liaise with the Project managers for electrical deliverables
+ Accountable to a nominated Commissioning Manager/Engineer in the NNB HPC Project team
+ Develop commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities
+ Contribute to design reviews to ensure layout of plant items and systems are in a manner that allows ease of commissioning
+ Contribute to detailed planning of commissioning and take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests
+ Take part in the execution of site commissioning activities including supervision of contractor commissioning personnel on behalf of HPC to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems
**Qualifications**
+ Degree qualified (or equivalent qualification such as HNC + experience) in Electrical Engineering
+ BS7671 18th Edition regulations
+ Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to others
+ Ability to plan works and support scheduling including understanding outputs of planning tools such as Microsoft project or Primavera P6

What You Will Do

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for commissioning Fire Alarm and Security Systems to the highest industry standards. You will provide exceptional customer service while using your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues proactively. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a high-performing team on impactful projects that enhance public safety.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering excellent customer service that exceeds expectations, fostering strong relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Commissioning fire alarm systems while adhering to safety protocols and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Effectively managing your time to prioritize tasks and complete engineering reports, handover certificates, and checklists accurately.

What We Look For

Essential:

  • Experience in the Fire & Security industry.
  • A valid driving license.
  • Physical capability to lift and climb ladders.
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing role.

Preferred:

  • Relevant industry qualifications (18th edition, NVQ, City and Guilds, BTEC, FIA).

What you will do

Our Commissioning Engineers Commission Security Systems i.e. Intruder Alarms, Access Control Systems and CCTV. The successful engineer will commission Security systems to the relevant industry standards, providing exceptional customer service with industry leading technical knowledge. We are looking for engineers who have the ability identify and rectify problems before they occur. This is a fantastic opportunity for a time served Commissioning Engineer to work within a high performing team, focusing on a geographical region. How you will do it

  • Provide excellent Customer Service to exceed the expectations and requirements of both the internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers.
  • To Service the appropriate devices, working safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, and the loss of unused materials.
  • Ensuring your time is managed efficiently and jobs are prioritised correctly.
  • Correctly complete Engineer work reports, handover certificates/BSIA Certificates or checklist as appropriate.

What we look for

Essential:-

  • Experience within Fire & Security industry
  • Driving license
  • Ability to lift and climb ladders
  • Had or have previous experience working in a customer facing environment
