We have a new opportunity for an Adoptions Manager to join our team within Vistry Cornwall South West, at our Exeter office. As our Adoptions Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance and timely and cost-efficient adoption of completed estate roads, sewers, pumping stations and public open spaces. You will work with the Engineering Manager to develop technical agreements during technical approval. Additionally, to engage and work with Build and Commercial teams towards the end of project development to ensure timely completion of works, sign-off and to reduce the occurrence of errors and barriers to adoption/hand-over.
You will maintain the company, group and technical project bonds and sectional agreement trackers and report on outstanding bonds and overrun costs and timescales.

- Relevant experience in a similar position with a recognised housing developer or Highway/Drainage Authority

Desirable –
- A Civil Engineering related qualification i.e. Degree, HND or HNC

- Whenever possible, attend sites during infrastructure works/activities and identify/record issues, monitor quality and provide positive feedback or raise concerns with the build team and/or contractors
- Ensure CCTV Surveys, As-Built Surveys, etc. are provided by the relevant supply chain and submitted for approval to the adoption authority or approved body.
- Commission and/or provide responses to Road Safety Audits to achieve sign-off
- Liaise with the Engineering and Technical Managers to ensure that infrastructure agreements (S278, S38, S104, S185) and Deeds are in place to facilitate the timely sign-off of works.
- Investigate barriers to adoption of Legacy Sites and explore and pursue solutions with adopting authorities
- Provide assistance and guidance to the Technical Department with respect to preparation of Adoption Plans, Deed Plans, Agreements and statutory processes inline with instruction form line manager
- Prepare and issue Highway H&S Files to adopting authorities
- Work with the Technical Managers to assist Managing external consultants to assist with adoptions as required including their performance and costs
- Assist with the development of pre-construction costs as instructed by line manager.
- Cultivate and maintain good, professional and respected working relationships with all external adopting bodies including Highways Authorities, Water Authorities, Councils and Management Companies
- Liaise with Subcontractors and the Commercial Department with respect to completion of works, variations/new quotations, inspections and rectifying sub-standard works
- Keep up to date with utility works/installations as may be required to facilitate adoptions/handovers
- Arrange site inspections of infrastructure at the end of maintenance periods and identify and arrange all works required to achieve adoption
- Undertake regular Site Inspections of completed, unadopted developments and review Health and Safety implications, arranging any necessary remedial works through the Commercial Department
- Provide support to the commercial department in the procurement of MEP packages via input into enquiry, scopes, reviewing quotations, attending pre-order meetings, etc.
- Familiarise yourself with the Contract requirements/Employer Requirements and CountrySide partnerships utility design solutions
- Ensure any comments/queries on the utilities design are reviewed and coordinated with the infrastructure design for adoptable roads and sewers
- Support the Commercial department in reviewing payment applications
- Ensure the necessary certification is provided for all connections to obtain PC / completion including witnessing
- Ensure applications for all meters are made and installation managed to programme.
- Manage the individual Project technical utility trackers, monitor on costs and variations, timescales and risk items
- Develop and implement a robust test and inspection regime for all stages
- Maintain up to date knowledge of all highways and drainage adoption and design procedures and design codes

What we need from you
- We require you to hold a degree in social work, with relevant registration to practice and current relevant registration with Social Work England and commitment to CPD. You must also be AMHP qualified.
- It is essential that you have substantial post-qualification experience, ideally working in mental health services and the ability to articulate a detailed understanding of the relevant legal frameworks/legislation such as the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding.
- You will demonstrate a developed understanding of the Recovery principles and the role of secondary mental health services in the delivery of care, with experience of undertaking carers’ assessments, assessing risk and developing risk management strategies.
- Given the nature of the role, you will have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with people at all levels, even when a more assertive approach is needed. This also includes highly developed active listening skills, which allows for reframing and testing of understanding.
- It would be desirable to have relevant post-registration qualifications such as BIA, CBT, AMHP and Brief Interventions, and familiarity with the 'Your Team, Your Conversation, Your Plan’ process, although training will be provided.

As an Emergency Duty Team Social Worker, you will offer out of hours emergency social work services to four local authorities. The public and other professionals with make contact regarding social care issues across Bristol, BANES, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, which require an urgent response.
Working within a small team of Social Work Practitioners, you will encounter a variety of challenging situations where you will need to make sound judgements.
What you will be doing
- Working to a 10-week rolling rota, you will cover nights, weekends and bank holidays. This includes 2 weeks off rota and 1 week on standby (part time workers will be agreed around this model).
- It will be key for you to demonstrate your knowledge of the relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, Children’s Act and Care Act) and statutory duties to be able to respond accordingly to each situation.
- It will be your responsibility to keep up to date with good practice in all areas of social work, along with service and policy objectives, to ensure these are met.
- Regularly, you will work with other agencies and statutory bodies (e.g. police, health etc.) and continue to maintain good working relationships with them.
- Day to day, you will need to complete all necessary forms, including maintaining a log of all calls received, indicating the action taken and ensuring details are reported to the appropriate duty desk.
What we need from you
- We require you to be a qualified Social Worker with relevant registration to practice (SWE Social Work England) and be AMHP warranted.
- You must have relevant post-qualifying experience in mental health along with extensive knowledge of dealing with complicated cases.
- You will undertake complex risk assessments, so you must be able to effectively communicate the outcome in both verbal and written formats.

- Your salary will be pro-rata to hours worked.

- These posts attract a gross lump sum £ 000 ‘recruitment payment ’ pro rata offered to enable social workers who have already successfully completed their ASYE to join our permanent workforce. This is payable upon successful completion of your probationary period (after approximately 3-6 months) and is subject to eligibility criteria.
- These posts are currently eligible for a market factor £3,00 ‘retention payment’ pro rata, payable in November annually to those with two years’ service with the council in Children’s Social Care In an eligible post, inclusive of any ASYE period.

- You must have an awareness and experience of risk assessment whilst preparing for and performing a task, and the ability to take appropriate action if risks are identified
- It will be essential for you to have experience/knowledge of relevant childcare legislation i.e. child protection, regulations and codes of practice, processes and procedures.
What you need to know
- You will be working 2 days per week for a limited term ending 12 months from the agreed start date.
- Salary will be pro rata to hours worked.
- Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
- You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel.

About the Team – Building Your Futures
Building Your Futures is an aspirational team who are passionate about children and young people's futures. The team are creative, and child focussed and strive for positive outcomes for the children we care for.
The Building Your Futures Team supports children and young people who are looked after in foster care, cared for by connected carers or family, and specialist care, and where there is a plan to support children Going Home (reunification). The team, work alongside a wide range of professionals and multi-agencies to support effective care planning for the children we care for.
The Role
As a Social Worker in the Building Your Futures team, you will:
- Support some of the most vulnerable children in our service.
- Lead on care planning, direct work, and life story work.
- Promote positive outcomes and ensure permanence plans are in place.
- Contribute to the Going Home pathway where appropriate.
- Deliver a high-quality, responsive service that reflects the wishes and feelings of children and young people.

- Engage children and young people meaningfully in all aspects of their care planning.
All social workers in the team are offered training in DDP and have the support of CAMHS consultations to aid direct work.
The ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a Diploma or Degree in Social Work and is registered with Social Work England (ASYE must be completed).
- Has a sound understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Acts 1989/2004, and is willing to develop expertise in legislation specific to this role.
- Demonstrates insight into the challenges faced by children in care.
- Communicates effectively with children and professionals across agencies.
- Possesses strong analytical skills to assess children's needs.
- Thrives in a dynamic environment and can manage competing demands with resilience.
