**A little more about your role.**
WSP's Glasgow Project Management Cost Management (PMCM) Buildings team operates across the UK and Europe, focusing on private sector development projects for blue chip developers. These include Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), Build To Rent (BTR) and other mixed-use developments. Example developments within the PMCM Buildings team range from £10m - £200m in value and some over 50 storeys in height.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will manage and report on the commercial performance of these projects, working closely with clients to ensure successful delivery.
Your role will involve maintaining a high level of technical, financial, and commercial control throughout the project lifecycle.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Commercial Management from inception to completion: Oversee all phases of the project, from initial planning and budgeting to execution, monitoring, and final evaluation.
+ Tender and appoint the project delivery team: Prepare tender documents, manage the tender process, and select contractors and consultants.
+ Attend design team meetings, produce tender documentation: Participate in design meetings to ensure cost-effective solutions and prepare detailed tender documents.
+ Development of cost plans: Create and refine cost plans throughout the project to ensure accurate budgeting and cost control.
+ Reviewing tender returns, authorise application of payment, risk analysis, valuation certificate production: Evaluate tender submissions, approve payments, conduct risk assessments, and produce valuation certificates.
+ Administer the Design & Build Contract: Manage contract administration, handle variations, and resolve disputes.
+ Preparation of financial reports: Generate regular financial reports to track project expenditure and budget adherence.
+ Final account information: Compile and reconcile final account information, preparing final financial reports.
+ Participate in value engineering workshops and analysis of findings: Engage in workshops to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement recommendations.
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ Proven track record in the successful delivery of public sector projects working with Local and Central Government agencies, in particular, Education delivery would be desirable.
+ Experience of projects from Feasibility Study stage through to Operation and in particular the stage deliverables at each point.
+ Experience in procurement of contractors, development of contractual documents and achieving Contract Close on projects.
+ Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team on behalf of a client, liaising with a diverse range of specialism.
+ Experience of development and management of programmes and the identification of issues and development of solutions to resolve time challenges.
+ Experience in the identification and management of risk and strategies to avoid or mitigate their outcomes.
+ Experience in the understanding of cost management of a project, working with QS colleagues to maintain the best value to the client whilst maintaining quality.
+ Obtained or working towards Chartership of a Professional Body. MAPM, MCIOB, MRICS or equivalent is desirable.

+ Candidates will support the team in developing designs for mechanical distribution systems from CHW, HVAC, Fuel to LTHW
+ Provide advice to clients regarding mechanical systems/requirements available to meet their business needs.
+ Leading the design of data centre mechanical systems and equipment
+ Provide written reports of system options in the form of design development notes.
+ Produce technical specifications for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements
+ Ensure coordination other disciplines including Architect and Structural engineers
+ Produce calculations, technical/equipment specification documentation for tender.
+ Monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with employers' requirements, design specifications and all relevant safety codes.
**Operational responsibilities:**
+ Able to work using their own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
+ Able to work under the clear direction of the client and interpret the needs of the project as a whole to meet the full delivery needs.
+ Work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team providing design and technical advice in a WSP project manager capacity on a wide range of projects.
+ Complete the detailed designs of mission critical facilities and all mechanical systems associated to data centres.
+ Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.
+ Take responsibility for and direct others in the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.
+ Review the detailed design programme and ensure that sufficient resource is available to complete the works.
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ Knowledge and experience in designing mechanical systems for data centres
+ Chartered status (or working towards Chartered status) with CIBSE or IMechE or equivalent experience
+ Technical MEP knowledge of relevant UK and EU regulations, design guides, etc
+ Have an understanding of the of Uptime Institute Tier Classification System
+ Flexible approach to meet the demands of projects
+ Have working understanding of TAS of IES and Hevacomp to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects

You will play a pivotal role in pre- and post-contract Cost & Commercial Management services to our clients - including estimating, cost planning, procurement, cost assurance, and post-contract financial/commercial management of projects ranging in size and complexity.
Depending on seniority and experience, you will be engaged in delivering QS commercial services, leading a QS / commercial team, training and mentoring staff, bid writing, winning work, people leadership and management, representing WSP UK at industry events, etc.
You will join a diverse, growing team of Cost Managers, Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors, and other related professionals who work across multiple sectors.

WSP has a large, highly experienced and friendly Ecology team who get involved with a diverse range of multi-disciplinary projects within the UK for both private and public clients. The team pride themselves on the integrated support offered by working alongside our in-house water, landscape, arboriculture, Natural Capital and sustainability specialists to deliver commercially balanced, innovative and integrated solutions.
With one of the UK's largest ecology teams with a growing portfolio of projects, WSP is looking to appoint an assistant or consultant grade Environmental Clerk of Works to help support our growing portfolio of project work at construction stage. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced environmentalist with a background in construction and construction management plans; and demonstrable experience in undertaking pre-construction surveys.
**Your New Role What's Involved?**
+ Visiting construction sites across a variety of industries (windfarm/grid connection/underground cabling/sub-sea cabling etc) to monitor adherence to environmental legislation.
+ Carry out site inspections and audits of construction works against planning conditions and associated documents (e.g. Construction Environmental Management Plan).
+ Drafting species protection plans and precautionary methods of works for a variety of species.
+ Undertaking protected species surveys and licence applications where relevant.
+ Provide guidance and solutions to contractors on environmental compliance and best practice methods.
+ You would be a key point of contact, working closely with other disciplines, notably ecologists, hydrologists, archaeologists and engineers to provide an integrated EnvCoW service.
+ Delivery of toolbox talks and onsite environmental guidance to contractors.
+ The delivery of a EnvCoW role may require working away from home between Monday-Friday.
+ Compilation of weekly site reports and supporting team management with administration tasks.
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ A CSCS card (or in the process of gaining one).
+ A full UK drivers licence.
+ Confident in habitats and protected species ecology.
+ An understanding of ecological management in a construction context.
+ An understanding of the environmental impact assessment legislation, policy and guidance.
