Ridgeway and Co are partnering with a leading real estate consultancy as they expand their commercial team with the hire of a Quantity Surveyor. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing business at the forefront of London’s commercial and mixed-use development sector.
You'll be working on some of the capital’s most innovative and design-led schemes, supporting major developers from inception through to delivery. This is a client-facing, hands-on QS role with responsibility across pre- and post-contract duties, and a clear pathway toward Senior and Chartered status.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as lead QS on key packages, pre- and post-contract, with minimal supervision
- Lead on measurement, interim valuations, and change control procedures
- Prepare and negotiate cash flows, employer instructions, and final accounts
- Support contract preparation alongside Senior QS / Associate
- Take ownership of assigned client reports and project sections
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and clients
- Lead commercial elements of monthly CRM processes
- Attend site meetings, manage photographic progress records, and liaise with Clerk of Works
- Contribute to client presentations and reporting packs
- Mentor junior team members and support team development
- Actively work toward chartership (MRICS)
About You
- Minimum 4+ years of Quantity Surveying experience (client-side, consultancy or main contractor)
- Strong understanding of cost planning, procurement, and contract administration
- Confident in negotiations with contractors and external consultants
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Working towards MRICS (APC pathway supported)
- Comfortable leading on commercial issues, with high attention to detail
- Collaborative, driven, and professional in client-facing settings
- Able to commute to City of Westminster Head Office 4x days per week

Based at our Capenhurst site, you'll act as subject matter expert and provide oversight for estimating activity within a busy projects management and PMO function, with a project portfolio in excess of £500m. You will also manage a team of 5+ cost and estimating professionals.

What you'll do:
Provide functional accountability for the effective application of Urenco standards, and be responsible for cost estimating output for Urenco projects
Managing a team of 5+
Being accountable for the development and maintenance of Urenco's processes and procedures for project estimating.
Responsibility for the project cost estimating framework specific to the organisation
Ensure alignment between the business objectives and the project estimating standards
Ensure alignment between contractual requirements and project estimating standards
Active participation in assurance reviews
Maintain an overview of subject matter expert's skills and competencies and provide development of project support resources both contract and staff
Approval of exceptions and deviations from standards
Quality control of project controls deliverables
What do you need to thrive in this role?
Proven professional in staff or contractor (ASW) roles throughout career as the central focus of experience
Suitably qualified in a higher level qualification, in a subject relevant to Estimating
Project Management or Project controls Qualification / Accreditation such as APM, PMI, AACE or equivalent useful
Experience in the ability to utilise critical project management concepts (specifically EVM, estimating, risk)
Demonstrable acumen in developing and implementing strategies that successfully deliver project to business objectives (safety, budget, cost, benefits) in alignment with industry best practices
Demonstrable ability in developing high performing professionals, communicating strategy and guiding a team accountable for delivery

**Job Description**
**Responsibilities and Accountabilities**
+ Maintains project cost to complete budgets in alignment with as sold position and in coordination with budget holders, consistently with actual progress and trend.
+ Supports forecast estimation and verifies the accuracy of the actual to date cost (material, labor, manufactured costs, suppliers' invoices, timesheets, travel expenses).
+ Drive and challenge budget at completion, with analysis through various means (earned value, productivity, cost ratio, market trends.). Validates accuracy of estimates.
+ Develop mitigations / catch up plans in alignment with functional leaders and Project Manager.
+ Aligns with project team and time schedule to ensure forecasted cost risks are accurately captured and costs time phased.
+ Checks and controls cost movements, compares with current scope and progress as well as with previous forecast.

+ Reports on cost movement root causes impacting sales targets.
+ Support disputes and analysis of claims.
**Qualifications & Experience**
+ Degree in engineering (with financial awareness)
+ Advanced and demonstrated years experience of cost controls / project controls / project management on large & complex or turnkey infrastructure projects.
+ Experience in risk management processes and tools.
+ Knowledge of ERP systems is an asset (SAP preferred).
+ Experience managing small teams within a large project is an asset.
+ Project planning experience / good P6 planning software understanding is an asset.
