Role Overview

We’re looking for a Freelance Visual Designer to support us on a flexible, ad hoc basis—someone who can bring concepts to life through quick sketches, scamps, and compelling visuals that help communicate experience ideas to clients and internal teams alike.

You will work closely with our strategy, creative, and client service teams to visually translate experience-led ideas into compelling sketches, scamps, and visual storyboards. These visuals will be used in client proposals, internal creative briefings, and new business pitches.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create quick concept sketches and polished scamps to illustrate experience ideas and spatial concepts
  • Develop visual storyboards that bring narrative-led experiences to life
  • Translate written or verbal briefs into clear visual representations of creative ideas
  • Visualise live event environments, customer journeys, content placements, and interactive elements with spatial awareness
  • Collaborate with the team via virtual calls to review briefs, iterate on visuals, and refine concepts
  • Provide visuals that support both client-facing presentations and internal production briefings
  • Work flexibly on a project-by-project basis, billing accordingly (hourly or daily as appropriate)


Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in experiential, events, or spatial design, with a strong freelance portfolio
  • Excellent sketching and scamping skills, from rough concepts to polished visuals
  • Experience in designing for live brand environments – exhibitions, tradeshows, activations, pop-ups, etc.
  • Good understanding of spatial design: scale, proportion, customer flow, and physical storytelling
  • Proficient in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Procreate, or other sketching/rendering platforms
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with remote teams
  • Fluent in English; based in the UK or Europe with availability for virtual working hours aligned to GMT/CET
  • Comfortable working with fast-paced timelines and changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines with a keen attention to detail


Nice to Have

  • Experience working with marketing, brand, or experiential agencies
  • Understanding of AV/content integration and how storytelling unfolds in physical spaces

You’ll be responsible for bringing the Asda master brand to life on in store POS with our design agencies and internal team, shaping design guidelines and pushing creative boundaries. Brief Writing

Graphic Design
We need someone who is hands on, produces creative design within Creative Suite to artwork standard.

Creative Collaboration
Working closely with other designers and design agencies to bring ideas to life – from concept to execution – delivering engaging communications that drive performance.

Project Ownership
Managing your own briefs, budgets and deadlines, giving regular updates to help keep projects on track in a busy, fast-moving environment. Updating planners on progress and ensuring right first time, of a consistent high standard and on budget.

Presenting and Sharing Work
You’ll also be creating presentations to share work with peers and senior stakeholders, understanding and managing any feedback.

Brand Guardianship
You’ll be a champion of the Asda Masterbrand design guidelines, ensuring consistency through stakeholder and agency briefing, reviewing design and agency output where necessary.

Guidelines and Templates
The role will include the creation of robust and thorough guidelines, toolkits and templates to handover to artwork teams, briefing to agencies, marketing teams, digital teams, regularly recirculating.

*Location: Hybrid London (In the office Mon-Thu days in office, Fridays working from home)


About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Creative and Design to lead our creative vision across two distinctive beauty brands. This is a pivotal role that combines strategic creative direction with hands-on team management, requiring someone who can balance high-level brand stewardship with operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

Creative Direction & Brand Leadership

  • Develop and maintain strong brand identity and creative direction across both brands
  • Direct photoshoots and creative campaigns, with photography skills an advantage
  • Establish and evolve brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all touchpoints
  • Collaborate closely with founders on creative storytelling and brand vision
  • Oversee creative output across all channels including POS, website, packaging, and advertising

Team Management & Operations

  • Lead and inspire a team of 4 creative professionals including Senior Designer and Mid-Weight Designers
  • Implement effective traffic management systems to prioritise and delegate workload
  • Manage resource allocation across multiple brand requirements and competing priorities
  • Foster a collaborative environment that drives creative excellence
  • Utilise project management tools to ensure efficient workflow and delivery

Strategic Oversight

  • Balance creative ambition with commercial objectives
  • Work closely with founders and senior stakeholders on strategic creative decisions
  • Ensure creative output aligns with brand positioning in the competitive beauty landscape
  • Drive innovation while maintaining brand integrity across both portfolios


What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Proven track record in senior creative leadership roles with team management experience
  • Demonstrable experience in traffic management and resource allocation
  • Background working in founder-led environments with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Experience managing creative output across multiple brands or product lines
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative direction and brand development

Preferred Background

  • Beauty or luxury skincare industry experience currently
  • In-house brand experience preferred
  • Familiarity with competitive beauty landscape
  • Experience directing photoshoots and creative campaigns

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with Figma for design collaboration
  • Project management tools experience (Asana or similar)
  • Understanding of packaging design and artwork production

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, founder-led environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Creative vision balanced with commercial awareness

Working Arrangements

  • Full-time position: Monday to Thursday in office (4 days), Friday flexible
  • Central London location
  • Available to start in October
  • Reporting directly to senior leadership team

  • Competitive salary: £70,000 - £80,000
