The Company


Principal Medical Ltd (PML) was founded in 2004, as a 'not-for-profit' organisation, by a small group of General Practitioners, with the main aim of ensuring that local NHS healthcare professionals had an opportunity to bid for, and provide, innovative primary care services, at scale, in their local area.


In the years since it was formed, the organisation has matured and grown with currently 70% of GP practices in Oxfordshire and 22% of those in Northamptonshire, associated with the Federation. The PML GP Federation is the largest collaborative group of GPs in Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire, covering a total population of almost 800,000 patients.


This is an exciting new role in PML for a Business Intelligence Manager to provide insightful analysis and help PML make well-informed decisions by collating, storing, formatting, and presenting data in a clear and useful way.


The Role


This is a newly created Business Intelligence Manager position and will work closely with stakeholders across the business, providing reports and insights that better support planning, patient care, and use of resources. Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing data including collation and database management, analysis and interpretation
  • Performance monitoring and reporting including dashboards and KPIs
  • Stakeholder collaboration
  • Support for strategic planning and business cases
  • Compliance with information governance standards and quality assurance
  • People management (managing 1 direct report)


About you


Applicants for the Business Intelligence Manager role will have:


  • Proven experience gained in a similar business intelligence, data analysis and/or reporting focussed role (healthcare experience considered beneficial but not essential)
  • Expertise in BI and data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau or similar) as well as proficiency in Excel and data query tools such as SQL
  • Strong understanding of data platforms (cloud/non-cloud), and experience sourcing data from multiple sources
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with proven ability to quickly understand business processes
  • Preferably have experience of line management
  • Flexibility to travel as/when required to other locations locally (access to own car)

About the Team:
The Analytics and Insights team in the Technology Infrastructure and Operations function develops high-quality management reporting about Elsevier's technology infrastructure and operational performance. The team works with operations and infrastructure colleagues, senior management and teams across Technology and the wider business to deliver robust insights about Elsevier's technology estate. The team also leads data governance initiatives across TIO to build robust data management practices across the breadth of our infrastructure and operational data .
About the Role:
You will develop and maintain reporting on Elsevier's vast multi-cloud infrastructure estate and operational performance for senior stakeholders across the business. Engaging with stakeholders across Technology, you will gather analytics requirements and translate these into compelling dashboards and reports on how we best manage our AWS resources, software assets and other areas of operational performance and compliance.
You will build advanced data models for reporting, support the development of data pipelines and streamline data integration for analytics and reporting. You will work alongside other data analysts, data engineers, data architects and infrastructure architects in building reporting pipelines and implementing data quality standards and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Designing and implementing dimensional data models for analytics and reporting
+ Creating Tableau dashboards, reports and data visualisations which provide clear and actionable insights for operations teams and senior stakeholders
+ Analysing large operational datasets with a focus on data integrity and accuracy
+ Leading analytics projects independently, taking ownership of initiatives and delivering insights and analytical solutions supporting strategic data initiatives
+ Collaborating with business stakeholders and cross-functional project teams to establish reporting requirements
+ Managing analytics reports across the full analytics lifecycle, including discovery, iterative development, testing, deployment, maintenance and end user support

Requirements:
+ Significant experience in a lead role in data analytics, business intelligence or analytics engineering

+ Experience with DBT is desirable.
