Due to a number of New Business wins my client, an award winning Pension Consultancy, currently seek a talented Senior Administrator to join their Defined Benefit team.
The role will involve prioritising the day to day workload of the team and assisting the Administration Manager in ensuring that the team runs smoothly. Duties will include:
- Ensuring that an effective pension administration service is provided to all clients
- Ensuring that client work is completed with SLA's and deadlines
- Handling more complex pension tasks such as calculations and scheme project work
- Being a point of contact for a portfolio of clients as well as trustees and senior scheme members
- Managing annual projects such as renewals, benefit statements and pension increases
- Providing advice and guidance to less experienced colleagues
- Provide input regarding process and procedural change
Applicants must possess good knowledge of Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes with the ability to perform a range of complex calculations including leavers, retirements, deaths and transfers in and out. You are likely to possess around 3 plus years technical experience from a Third Party or In-House background along with strong numeracy, communication and organisation skills.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Pension Administrator – DB, Defined Benefit
> Provide excellent customer service in line with procedural and Service Level requirements.
> Process Change of Address, Name, Gone Aways, Outstanding premium letters and provide Valuation, Quotation and Projections, General Policy Details, General Policy Amendments/ Corrections, Wakeup Packs/Ad-hoc Packs, Record Mismatch/Suspense corrections, dealing with Multiple Exception reports.
> Answer member queries, including via inbound calls, address their inquiries with accurate information, resolving issues to ensure satisfaction, and maintaining detailed records of interactions.
> Adhere to Quality Management Systems and comply with regulations and policies from the Company and relevant regulatory bodies.
> Take ownership of personal and performance development undertaking all relevant training courses, including Mandatory e-learning, to improve and retain pensions and internal systems knowledge and capability.
> Identify and report risks, complaints, and breaches immediately/within deadlines, to line management and/or the Operational Risk & Compliance Department.
> Work within set key performance indicators and quality standards.
Essential Skills & Experience

• Pension administration experience, essentially with DB pension schemes.
• Proven experience in managing and handling inbound customer calls effectively.
• Experience with calculations, payments and authorising work.
• Excellent numeracy and data inputting skills.
• Computer literate with experience using IT systems (Word, Outlook, Teams).

My client is a leading pensions firm and they are currently recruiting for a number of defined benefit pension administrators across all levels working hybrid from Edinburgh or Glasgow to manage a portfolio of DB schemes and work at the forefront of the team, with the scope to develop within other teams to trustee and consulting.
The roles are due to increased business and the successful applicant will be key within the team, also managing your own set of DB/DC schemes. Previous technical defined benefit/ final salary pensions/DC experience is essential, in addition some experience in client management within pensions. Professional qualifications such as progress towards PMI are desirable, but not essential.
You will be working with clients who have a mixture of defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes. Technical knowledge of cradle to grave pensions administration is required, a thorough understand of scheme rules and current legislation and project management. Your work will include some client facing work as your experience increases if you wish.
