Overview
Drainage Engineer role at Lanes Group
Location: Bamber Bridge, Preston, Lancashire. Hours: 50 hours per week (Monday to Friday; 6am-4pm day shift and 5pm-3am night shift). Salary: £12.50 per hour for days and £15.00 per hour for nights. This is a full-time position within a growing, busy department. You will be working closely with an HGV driver to clean along the highways, up and down the country.
Flexibility in hours is required, as you may stay overnight on occasions and work some weekends. You will be outdoors for the majority of your working day, so a love for the outdoors is a must. A hands-on approach is needed, including assisting with getting in and out of the cab and using a company tablet daily. A mixture of day, night, and occasional away-from-home work is ESSENTIAL to consider before applying.

About the Role Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit experienced Drainage Engineers to join our team. This is a hands-on role suitable for professionals with a background in both commercial/industrial and domestic drainage work.
You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving drainage issues, using high-pressure water jetting, CCTV inspection equipment, and carrying out minor repair works such as small excavations and lining or patching.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve blockages across domestic and commercial sites

Working as part of the drainage team to provide support to a variety of clients during pre-planning, detailed design and construction phases of projects.
Dimensions
The drainage team is made up of a director, an associate and 2 engineers.

We are working with a Leicester company who are looking to expand the team by recruiting a Civil Engineer. They need a multi-disciplined individual able to undertake design work and coordinate with third parties such as clients, contractors and Local Authorities.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years' experience in the design of infrastructure related projects consisting of highways, drainage, earthworks and have current working knowledge of the use of Civils 3D, CAD, and drainage design software.
The team delivers a wide variety of consultancy services to a large client base, both local and national. The Transport & Infrastructure business are responsible for providing several engineering services across multiple sectors, at all stages of our client's project, from inception through to commissioning.
You will be Working on challenging and multiple projects simultaneously and will undertake preliminary and detailed design of roads, levels, drainage, and external works in both the public (adoptable) and private realm.
Requirements:
- Undertake design for infrastructure projects, including 3D surface modelling and hydraulic drainage design.
- Represent at client, contractor, and local authority meetings.
- Knowledge of design and approvals for S278 and S38 highway schemes with design capability when supervised by senior staff.
- Knowledge of design and approvals of S104, S106 and S185 drainage schemes, including awareness of current drainage legislation and sustainable drainage practice.
- Knowledge and awareness of the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments.
