The role entails overseeing frontline operations of the Waste Consolidation Centre, fostering a strong team dynamic with driver operatives, and ensuring production targets are achieved while adhering strictly to health and safety regulations, site permits, and environmental legislation
Main responsibilities and duties
- Provide leadership, give work instructions and monitor the performance of driver operatives and machine operators.
- Manage, motivate, train and develop team as required.
- Deal effectively with under performance, implementing disciplinary procedures as appropriate.
- Absence management, e.g. conduct return to work interviews.
- Mobile plant management, including liaison with suppliers for parts, breakdown and service.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and that all operations within the Waste Consolidation Centre comply with the site licence / permit.
- Contribute toward on-going cost control, actively seeking to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, increasing margin and meeting budget targets set.
- Ensure that all aspects of Health & Safety are adhered to, including H&S induction and training, operating procedures, near miss reporting and emergency procedures.
- Ensure monthly TBT’s and serious Incidents are delivered to staff in a timely manner.
- Deliver point of work briefings to all operational staff at the start of their shift.
- Complete all administrative tasks associated with role, including daily site checks, vehicle gate checks and.
- Ensure the site has adequate cover of staff during operational hours including overtime and holiday rotas.
- Maintain a good working relationship with internal and external customers
- Deputise for the Operations Manager and carry out other reasonable tasks as the Company may require from time to time.
- Assist the client and contractors in the disposal and segregation of waste and recyclable material.
- Address complaints from site users and resolve if possible.
- Provide a positive customer experience by educating clients and contractors in correct segregation of materials.
- Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and compliant manner, adhering to all site rules.
- Report all accidents and incidents and assist in the investigation to identify root cause.
- Provide leadership in emergency situations whether these are actual incidents or testing.
- Proactively report all near misses and provide practical solutions to prevent reoccurrence if possible.
- Ensure that team members carry out their duties in a safe, effective and timely manner.
- Assist the client and contractors in the disposal and segregation of waste and recyclable material.

- Assist to ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed correctly and kept in an organised manner.

- Ensure that Site Operatives follow site rules and maintain high standards on site at all times.

This role is an on site position based in Staffordshire.
The Role
- Manage a Team of x4 Direct reports and circa x30 in-directs.
- Responsible for deputising for the Logistics Manager, during periods of absence.
- Oversee a team of Logistics colleagues, ensuring the seamless and efficient operation of the inventory control area and the Goods In and Dispatch area.
- Ensure all stock is correctly located, accounted for and responsible for the stock control of all items received into the business.
- Responsible for the accurate recording of all stock, updating the SQCDP Board on a daily basis role and to ensure all parts are received, transactions completed, and items put away in a timely manner.
- Responsible for parts from time of receipt until time of put away in the correct locations.
- Drive continuous improvements within the area through the SQCDP measures, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Conduct structured morning meetings and further daily communication with the team to ensure clear communication of targets and objectives. Frequent communication of SQCDP status and targets.
- Build and maintain direct relationships with customers and suppliers, providing clear communication on all aspects of day-to-day operations.

The Role
We are looking for a Logistics Supervisor to join our team, on a fixed term contract of 18 months, to be responsible for the logistics and despatch process for exporting our product both domestically and globally in the most efficient and cost-effective manner whilst ensuring that high quality service is maintained.
The role includes working closely with hauliers and our warehouse team to ensure the efficient packaging and delivery of our product from our UK depot via most modes of transport including; road, sea and air. This may also involve the transportation of hazardous goods and the documentation surrounding this. An essential part of the role is to ensure that deadlines are met and strong communication throughout the supply chain is upheld.
Key Responsibilities
- To create and maintain a library of all import and export documents to comply with current legislation.
- To implement and manage inward processing relief (IPR).
- To implement and facilitate standardised packaging for the shipping of Sandon Global products globally (SOPs to be created and adhered to).
- To ensure that documentation is accurately recorded and filed (pre and post shipping).
- To liaise, motivate and communicate with the wider team (planning, sales / customer service and despatch) to ensure that products are scheduled for despatch in the most expedient and logical manner.
- To analyse orders and other records to determine shipping priorities according to manufacturing schedules and determine appropriate routes and rates for export to ensure On-Time Delivery.
- To be responsible for the administration involved in dispatching products; producing delivery notes and financial administration.
- To ensure that shipping documentation is accurate in terms of current legislation. Reference to incoterms, post Brexit legislation and shipping of hazardous chemicals.
- To examine shipping costs and negotiate with external hauliers to ensure that our product is shipped in the most cost-effective manner. To include negotiation of carrier contracts.
- To maintain an accurate inventory of what has been shipped each day and to report to Management on this.
- To be responsible for the management of the Despatch Team and to oversee activities and performance of all members of the team with regard to efficiency and capacity and to take corrective action where necessary.
- To manage team performance issues (including NCRs) and recommending training as required.
- To ensure all staff adhere to company health and safety policies and procedures at all times through safe systems of work and practices and completion of health and safety training to ensure total safety awareness.
- To be responsible for KPIs set and contribute to business-wide reporting and planning.
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience in importing and exporting goods (previous knowledge of logistics, exporting hazardous goods, incoterms and export legislation).
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Experience with export documentation and compliance.
- Freightforwarding experience.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving and planning skills.
- Exceptional time management skills.
