Gap Personnel (operating as an employment business) are currently recruiting for a Electrical Design Engineer on a permanent basis for our client based in Telford.
Hours
Monday - Thursday - 8:30am - 5:15pm
Friday - 8:30am - 12:30pm
Pay
Negotiable dependent on experience
Description and key responsibilities as an Electrical Design Engineer:
- Design electrical control systems for automation and measurement applications.
- Enter and update parts and bills of materials in accordance with internal procedures.
- Produce and maintain detailed electrical and schematic drawings using AutoCAD LT.
- Create 3D and 2D layout drawings for electrical panels, ensuring correct component placement and compliance with electrical standards.
- Select appropriate components based on electrical specifications, current and voltage requirements.
- Ensure all design documentation complies with relevant directives and standards.
- Maintain high standards of design administration and work within company stock control systems.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, integration, and support teams to deliver effective solutions.
- Support service engineers with resolving on site electrical issues.
- Program safety PLCs using Pilz PNOZ software (or similar) to meet safety standards.
- Liaise with production teams to resolve electrical design queries.
- Knowledge of PLC systems, stepper/servo motor control, and CE marking requirements is desirable.
- Willingness to travel internationally on occasion.
Qualifications and skill required as an Electrical Design Engineer:
- HNC or higher qualification in an Electrical Engineering-related discipline
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience producing detailed electrical drawings
- Proficient in AutoCAD LT or similar CAD software
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an engineering environment
- Hands-on experience with system assembly, testing, and fault-finding
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Understanding of dimensional measurement principles
- Experience working with metrology systems
- Familiarity with MRP systems (e.g. Sage)

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Severn Trent region.
You will report directly to the Principal Engineer and your role will be to provide superior quality Engineering Design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts.
