Understand an Automation Project Lifecyle from concept to completion.nDesign and Test Control Software applications for PLCs and HMIs for a variety of different requirements.nFunctional Testing of all Software Applications created and safe on-site installation and commissioning.nProduce and maintain high-quality technical design documentation, such as Functional Design Specification (FDS), Software Design Specification, (SDS) internal and site testing records and user manuals.nWork closely with clients to interpret requirements, present design concepts, and incorporate feedback.nEnsure designs meet relevant regulatory and safety standards and are consistent throughout the design and development process.nCollaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth project delivery.nSkills and Experience

Understanding of designing/interpreting Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and translating into automation software requirements.nExperience in programming Rockwell Control-Logix PLCs essential. Experience of Siemens TIA Portal and Mitsubishi hardware also an advantage.nExperience in programming Rockwell HMIs essential. Experience of other brand HMIs also an advantage .nA knowledge of setting up Automation TCP/IP networks essential.nA knowledge of SCADA applications an advantage.nExperience of real time electrical and control system commissioning at client locations.nA knowledge of wet process and fast moving consumer goods an advantage, such as Water Processing and Treatment and Food and Beverage Manufacture.nFamiliarity with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols is required.nCompetency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.nSpecific Qualifications

We’re representing a successful engineering business with a strong reputation for delivering high-specification process systems to global clients in highly regulated industries. Due to sustained growth, they are now seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to join their established multi-disciplinary team.

£40-45k + 5%  Matched Pension (Salary Sacrifice) + Healthcare

Electrical Design Engineer - The Role:

You’ll work closely with other engineers to deliver complete electrical design solutions for complex, skid-based process equipment. This will include:

  • Producing detailed electrical designs using AutoCAD Electrical (training provided if needed)
  • Integrating a wide range of instrumentation and control devices
  • Overseeing panel build, testing, safety checks and FAT
  • Utilising simple test programs (TIA Portal knowledge advantageous)
  • Collaborating with colleagues to maintain high quality and meet deadlines

Electrical Design Engineer - The Person:

  •  Proven experience in electrical design for industrial or process equipment
  •  Comfortable working from concept through to commissioning
  •  Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical (or willingness to learn)
  •  Knowledge of control systems, instrumentation and FAT procedures
  •  Self-motivated, with strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
