**About you**
You will be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering. Ideally, you will be Chartered and be a member of a relevant engineering institution.
Previous experience working within the water industry is preferred.
Drawing from your civil engineering experience in the water industry, you will, as part of a team, develop solutions from needs identification and feasibility, through to outline and detailed design. You will have the ability to collaborate with other disciplines and have experience in supporting and leading other civil engineers. You will also have a track record of undertaking designs and completing design deliverables within required timescales and design budgets.

In the Northwest, we are delighted to have been appointed to United Utilities' £269 million Design Development Partners Framework for AMP 8. We have also been selected on Yorkshire Water's Storm Overflow Alliance, to deliver their AMP8 capital investment programme.

**Your Role**

WSP are seeking Engineers with experience in Water, Drainage and Environmental Engineering for rivers and flood defence projects to expand the growth of our expertise and technical capability. We support clients and projects throughout the UK with a focus on the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and other asset management organisations, providing designs from concept through to detailed designs across a range of sectors.
As part of the role, you will be responsible for:
+ delivery of a wide variety of civil engineering river and flood related schemes;

+ developing outline and detailed designs for engineering flood projects including hydraulic systems, flood defences, drainage and ancillary structures etc;

From outline to detailed design, you'll input through producing drawings and design calculations to help develop a better way to obtain, clean, and distribute water for our communities (e.g. pollution management schemes).
In your day-to-day work you will solve engineering problems, use design software and tools such as ArcGIS to carry out engineering calculations, develop designs, produce drawings, reports, and presentations, you will also have the opportunity to undertake site visits. You'll be doing all this is as part of a friendly and collaborative project team along with the support and guidance of our highly skilled Senior and Principal Civil Engineers. You'll also be given dedicated mentors to support you in your journey to Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Our Civil Engineers work across the project lifecycle in asset planning / strategy, concept design, outline design and also detailed design, within our design and build joint ventures. We work on a variety of project sectors across the UK and Ireland, including clean water treatment and networks, wastewater treatment, wastewater networks, flooding, and urban drainage.

**About You**
You'll have a degree in Civil Engineering and be incorporated or Chartered / working toward Chartered status with a relevant professional body such as ICE or CIWEM.

**We have an opportunity for a Degree Apprentice (Level 6) Civil Engineer to join our Apprentice Programme in our Civil Engineering team based in Warrington.**

You will work within a diverse and highly skilled team, where your efforts will directly support critical infrastructure from treatment works and pumping stations to essential pipelines. Your day-to-day work will be dynamic and fulfilling: you will solve complex engineering problems and assist Senior Engineers throughout the entire project lifecycle; design and develop solutions by performing engineering calculations, using advanced design software and tools, and producing high-quality drawings, reports, and presentations; and innovate to reduce our environmental impact and provide sustainable solutions that support our clients' most pressing needs.
