The Privacy, Policy, Legal and Compliance (PPLC) team empower growth by providing clear, business-focused legal, compliance, and privacy guidance. We work cross-functionally to navigate risks, drive innovation, and ensure strong policies are in place. Our goal is to support fast, compliant decision-making while protecting the company’s interests and data. We balance agility with integrity to keep the business growing.
Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including customer agreements, partnerships, and service-level agreements (SLAs)
- Assist in ensuring that the company’s data protection practices are compliant
- Support the business with legal risk management, identifying and mitigating potential legal and compliance issues.
- Stay updated on relevant legal and regulatory changes in fintech, including financial services, data protections, and open banking specific regulations
- Work closely with internal teams (PPLC colleagues, Product, Commercial) to navigate legal and compliance challenges in new product development
- Manage internal legal processes
- Qualified solicitor in England and Wales, with at least 4 years of relevant post qualification experience at a top international law firm, or in-house legal department, preferably with experience in the financial services sector and/or at a fast-growing startup
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Great stakeholder management, and a team player
- Experience with privacy, data security, and intellectual property law is a plus

A global alternative investment firm with approximately $25 billion in assets who are focused on a range of lending strategies into different asset classes.
The role
As the senior member of the Legal team based in London, you will support investment, fundraising and group activities across the European business. You serve as a key partner to senior stakeholders, including investment professionals and capital formation.
Key responsibilities
- Work with the investment team throughout the life of an investment transaction to ensure material legal issues are identified and appropriately considered.
- Agreements may include, but are not limited to, loan or credit agreements, receivables purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, guarantees, indemnification agreements, and purchase and sale agreements.
- Collaborate with the US to support fundraising initiatives in Europe.
- Work with external counsel on all phases of fund formation, including private placement memorandum and limited partnership agreement review, side letter negotiation and fund closings.
- Develop strong knowledge of fund structures.
- Responsible for governance of management company entities.
- Line management of another lawyer.
Experience requirements:
- Broad experience across a variety of credit or lending transactions, with exposure to transactions in multiple European jurisdictions preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of legal experience, with experience in private fund management.
- Prior industry in-house experience strongly preferred.
