- Develop and implement comprehensive crop production plans, including planting, fertilizing, irrigation, and pest management strategies.
- Supervise and manage farm staff, providing training and guidance on best practices.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of farm machinery and equipment.
- Monitor crop health and growth, identifying and addressing any issues promptly.
- Manage farm budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental policies.
- Maintain detailed records of farm activities, yields, inputs, and expenses.
- Source and procure necessary seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural supplies.
- Implement and promote sustainable farming methods.
- Collaborate with agronomists and agricultural experts to optimize farming practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in farm management or a senior agricultural role, with a focus on crop production.
- Strong knowledge of crop cultivation, pest control, and soil management.
- Experience in operating and maintaining agricultural machinery.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in farm management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of agricultural economics and financial management.
- A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a physically demanding environment and under varying weather conditions.
- Full UK driving license is essential.
