The Role: This opportunity is working for a well-established and successful Global Retailer with a brilliant brand in the sector and a very exciting strategy for the future. As a crucial member of the Commercial Finance team, reporting into the Head of Commercial Finance you will work closely with the Buying and Merchandising team. The Senior Finance Business Partner is a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of sales, margin, and stock targets at the business. The business partner will deliver insightful analysis and reporting, highlighting opportunities to drive sales, margin and effectively manage stock and markdown. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Be instrumental in supporting Open to Buy management, with clear targets for key metrics including full price Sales, sell-through rates and break/exit stock
- Commercial analysis with recommendations to improve performance in sales, margin and stock metrics in conjunction with the Buying and Merchandising team
- Work with the Buying and Merchandising team to develop financial plans (i.e. budget, forecast, long term plans). Challenge assumptions and highlight opportunities
- Effectively communicate with and challenge senior stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen to manage financial performance
- Build an external perspective and use outputs to engage and influence the business
- Support ad hoc projects and other teams during busy periods e.g. year end
Requirements:
- Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with minimum 2-4 years PQE
- Retail/Stock/Margin experience
- Strong commercial acumen with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance
- Proven experience of analysing and interpreting data, with the ability of summarising key points and making recommendations
- Self-motivated team player, happy to work independently and build relationships across the business
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload whilst maintaining a strong relationship with key stakeholders
- Highly skilled in Microsoft software, with experience in using finance and reporting software

Brakes have a great opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join our Corporate Commercial Finance Team supporting the commercial team with some of our biggest customers.
Reporting into the Senior Finance Business Partner, this is a key role that will support our Commercial Account Managers in looking after existing customers. You’ll be working closely with colleagues across both Finance & Commercial to provide insight and analysis to support strategic planning and decision making. Accountabilities
- Weekly/Monthly forecasting as well as analysis of key variances
- Ensuring the month-end process is completed in line internal deadlines
- Preparation of Financial Evaluations
- Responsible for ensuring customer facing reports are accurate and timely
- Customer contract management – ensuring customers are trading in line with Key Business Assumptions
- Providing financial information to Corporate Account Managers to enable a better understanding of customer performance
- Contracted customer rebate management
- Preparation of Balance sheets.
- Support in producing and presenting Business Unit Review Packs
- A central point of contact for internal and external customers
- Continuous improvement work
- Support the Senior Finance Business Partner in running the sector and step in for them on occasion.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Ideally, you’ll be a recently qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) currently operating as a Finance Business Partner, Management Account or Finance Analyst, looking to join a global organisation as part of your career development.
