The Role
You play a pivotal role in leading financial activities and guiding the business through its next phase of growth. Overseeing financial accounting, reporting, controls, and budgeting processes
- Leading cashflow forecasting and ensuring accurate P&L performance li>Preparing and analysing financial statements in compliance with accounting standards
- Managing annual budgets and forecasts, and advising on performance improvements

- Ensuring VAT, PAYE, and other HMRC requirements are met

Qualifications & Experience:
- ACA, CIMA, or ICAEW qualified
- Proven experience as a Finance Controller or similar senior finance role
- Strong technical knowledge in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance
- Effective leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams
- Proficient in financial software (ideally Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience engaging with Board or Executive-level stakeholders
- A background in fast-paced, customer-focused, and tech-enabled environments

- Strong knowledge of UK VAT, statutory accounting, and audit processes.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial control in a fast-paced environment.

My client is a manufacturing organisation based in Leigh. Doe to the current incumbent leaving the business they are recruiting this role on a permanent basis into their finance function, the role will report directly into the Managing Director and so you will have full autonomy over the finance team.
As a Financial Controller you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management including accounting, budgeting and reporting, preparing accurate monthly and annual accounts with commentary on performance, providing financial analysis into the numbers to support strategic decisions, manage cash flow and working capital, develop and maintain internal control policies and liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, as well as manage the team underneath you.
This role will suit a qualified accountant who has experience leading a finance function, preferably within a manufacturing environment but this is not essential.
The salary is paying up to £65,000 dependant on experience and will be based onsite 5 days a week. I have worked with this company previously on more than one occasion and have received excellent feedback from the people who secured the roles about it being a great place to work.

My client is a service business based in the Manchester City Centre area. Due to the growth of the business and various projects there is now requirement for a Financial Controller. This role will be on an initial 6 months but could be longer . The successful person will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the group, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial controls, and strategic financial planning. This role requires a hands-on approach to financial management, working closely with operational teams to drive profitability, cash flow efficiency, and compliance.
Reporting to the Group FC duties will include:
- Oversee and support the preparation of monthly management accounts for various business units.
- Lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring accuracy in revenue recognition, cost allocation, and accruals.
- Conduct variance analysis against budgets and provide actionable insights to management.
- Maintain a strong general ledger structure, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions and reconciliations.
- Develop and oversee annual budgets and rolling financial forecasts for each business unit.
- Work with operational teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and margin improvements.
- Monitor and report on KPIs, cash flow, and working capital, ensuring proactive management.
- Support the CFO in strategic planning, investment decisions, and acquisitions.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, ensuring the group has adequate liquidity for operations and growth.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, including VAT, Corporation Tax, and PAYE.
- Implement and maintain financial controls to prevent errors, fraud, and inefficiencies.
- Improve financial reporting automation and efficiency, optimizing accounting software and ERP systems.
- Lead the implementation of new processes, policies, and best practices across the group.
The right candidate for the role will be
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g.Sage, SAP, NetSuite, Xero).
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax compliance, and financial regulations.
- Ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights to non-financial stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of job costing, WIP accounting, and project-based financial reporting.
