What’s the role?

Elliptic is looking for an energetic, and ambitious finance professional to help with the day to day of the finance function for this high-growth SaaS business.

This person will work closely with all the finance team members to help establish and look after various accounting and financial control processes and bookkeeping. As such this person will play a central role in a function that drives the growth of the business by continually improving speed and integrity of management information for teams throughout the business.

This offers a rapid learning curve with increasing understanding and ownership of all finance processes under the guidance of and reporting to the Finance Manager and clear career-progression opportunity.

You will also benefit from a growth mindset environment including close attention to career development, as well as on-going learning about the role, wider industry and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

What you’ll do?

This person will enjoy the satisfaction of closing the month end to schedule and owning all elements of financial operations, payroll and treasury.

Reporting To The Finance Manager, Your Responsibilities Will Include

Month end close

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close processes with a view to release accounts by day 10
  • Assist in the preparation of the management accounts including variance analysis processes
  • Supporting and working with local accounting, tax and corporate services providers in the US, Singapore, UAE and Japan

Year end close and audit support

  • Assist with year-end close
  • Assist with audit queries and provide all required supporting documentation.

Accounts receivable / revenue

  • Work closely with assistant management accountant to ensure timely sales invoicing, collections and credit control, including but not limited to:
    • Raising or approving invoices (new wins, renewals, and customer expansions), receiving payments, sending customer statements and responding to customer billing queries
    • Navigate the CRM (Hubspot) and contract management system (Juro)
    • Ownership of the Credit Control function - automated reminders and escalations are sent weekly from Satago, which triggers customer billing / contracting queries requiring response and / or escalation to our internal customer team
  • Monitor revenue recognition in accordance with UK GAAP for SaaS-based subscriptions including overseeing journals prepared by the outsourced provider
Operational

  • Simplify, streamline & automate operational processes
  • Manage the offshore outsourced partner with the accounts payable cycle, releasing supplier payments and troubleshooting any issues arising in Tipalti
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and be involved in tasks such as:
    • Management of the various finance inboxes
    • Helping with queries across different teams
  • Daily monitoring of banks accounts, reconciling incomings and outgoings in Xero
  • Floating payroll, supplier payment and employee reimbursement tools
Strategic

  • Identify and implement opportunities for process automation and financial system improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support business decision-making
  • Following and adhering to financial control process and suggesting improvements to enhance the financial control environment
  • Maintain and update detailed process notes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key financial tasks, ensuring clarity, compliance with current policies, and alignment with team workflows

Payroll

  • Preparation of payroll by either inputting into payroll software or working with an outsourced provider
  • Managing the payroll timetable and execution thereof alongside the people operations team

Requirements

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Must Be Energetic, Trustworthy And Dependable With Exceptional Attention To Detail. Additionally, The Ideal Candidate Will Always Look To Improve On Accepted Norms, And Should Possess The Following Traits

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • ICAEW, CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in a scaling tech company
  • Strong understanding of SaaS revenue recognition principles and subscription-based business models.
  • Vast experience in closing a month-end including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, analysing and commentating on the management accounts.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero / Netsuite) and Google suite (gmail, google sheets / docs / slides etc) and Excel.
  • Experience with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills
  • Enthusiastic personality

Bonus Points (advantageous but not essential) for:

  • 2+ years of post professional qualification experience (ICAEW, CPA, ACCA, CA) in a similar role
  • Netsuite implementation experience / involvement
  • Crypto / Blockchain industry experience

The Financial Reporting Accountant oversees the year-end statutory reporting across the EMEA region within CBRE Investment Management. This individual is responsible for managing financial statements filing, regulatory returns preparation and filing. Coordinating with the Shared Service Centre (BSO) and oversight of the outsourced serviced providers operating within the EMEA region, reporting directly to the EMEA Financial Reporting Manager based in London. The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of local GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP, a subject matter expert in financial, regulatory and tax reporting across the EMEA region and be flexible and dynamic.
**Responsibilities**
+ Preparation of the annual financial statements for various companies under FRS 102 - UK GAAP (UK), Dutch GAAP (Netherland), Lux GAAP (Luxembourg), and IFRS (Dubai), ensuring these are filed on time.
+ Ownership of the annual audit process, preparation of audit work paper and final Trial Balance, ensuring audit queries are addressed timely.
+ Strengthening internal controls on financial reporting process by preparing and reviewing reconciliations, establishing and implementing controls for financial reporting.
+ Liaise with Corporate Finance, FP&A, Fund Accounting and Legal teams across the EMEA region to analyse and review contracts to ensure revenue recognition is accounted for appropriately.
+ Liaising with tax advisors for submission of annual tax computations & returns timely.
+ Overseeing the preparation and review of VAT returns (UK, Switzerland, Netherland, Luxembourg & Dubai), and quarterly regulatory returns (FCA- UK, CSSF - Lux, PIB - Dubai).
+ Preparation of Board packs, including analysis on material movements on P&L and balance sheet.
+ Completing and submitting various reports such as Payment Practices and Performance Reporting (PPPR) and Office for National Statistics (ONS) reports in a timely manner.
+ Coordinating with the Shared Service Centre (BSO) and oversight of the outsourced serviced providers operating within the EMEA region, reviewing of balance sheet reconciliations.
+ Liaise with the Global finance team to resolve any financial accounting activities and questions on a timely basis, providing accounting data input to requests from Management and FP&A.
**Key Skills/Experience**
+ Qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with 5+ years of professional experience
