Job Description
A leading Construction and Facilities Management contractor is seeking an experienced and fully qualified Mobile Commercial Gas Engineer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. This is a mobile role working across a range of commercial sites, between Southampton and Bournemouth. Delivering high-quality servicing, repairs, and installations of gas systems as part of planned and reactive maintenance works.
Key Responsibilities:

Undertake maintenance and repair of gas plant systems across multiple sites.
-
Carry out fabric and basic electrical maintenance tasks in line with contract requirements.
-
Complete all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance to required legislative and safety standards.
-
Ensure timely completion and submission of all paperwork, including job reports, service records, and compliance documentation.
-
Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours emergency support as needed.
-
Monitor and supervise visiting subcontractors, ensuring high standards of workmanship and compliance with Health & Safety regulations.

Issue and manage Permits to Work, control small works, and undertake escorting duties as required.

Ensure all compliance certification is correctly completed, and remedial works are clearly identified and documented.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant statutory and mandatory requirements relating to gas safety and building maintenance.

Ensure all tasks are carried out in line with company policies, industry regulations, and customer expectations.

Proactively identify and report risks or issues that may impact service delivery or compliance.

Support and contribute to a safe working environment through adherence to risk assessments and method statements.
Requirements

Must hold a full, current driving licence

Ability to anticipate, diagnose, and repair faults

Able to complete essential paperwork accurately and on time

Qualified to City & Guilds Level II/III or equivalent in relevant disciplines

Experience in maintenance, testing, and fault-finding on a variety of equipment, including:

Boiler plant

Ventilation systems
-
Pumps
-
Generators
-
Switchgear
-
Cables
-
Batteries
-
Small power and lighting (where applicable)

Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices

- Knowledge of Swagelok/Parker fittings, tubing, piping, welding, brazing, soldering, gases, fluids, and pressures is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Willingness to work away on customer sites across the UK (typically 25-50% travel)
- Must live within a reasonable distance of Crewe
- English language proficiency required
