What You'll Be Doing

You will lead a team of designers and collaborate closely with agronomists, environmental consultants, and construction managers. The role requires a deep understanding of golf strategy, turf management, drainage, irrigation, and landscape design principles. You will be expected to travel to project sites periodically, but the core of your work will be conducted remotely, offering unparalleled flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualize and develop master plans for new golf course projects, considering topography, existing landscape, and strategic golf routing.
  • Create detailed design plans, including hole layouts, bunker designs, green complexes, tee box placements, and irrigation/drainage strategies.
  • Utilize advanced CAD software and 3D modeling tools to produce comprehensive design documentation.
  • Liaise with clients to understand their vision and ensure the design meets their specific requirements and budget.
  • Collaborate with environmental consultants to ensure designs comply with local regulations and promote ecological balance.
  • Work closely with construction teams during the build phase to provide design support and ensure accurate implementation.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets for the design phase.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to the overall growth and development of the design team.
  • Conduct site analyses and feasibility studies for potential new projects.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in golf course architecture, sustainable design practices, and golf technology.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Golf Course Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in golf course design and architecture, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse projects.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Vectorworks, SketchUp, and GIS tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of golf course construction, agronomy, drainage, and irrigation systems.
  • Excellent understanding of golf strategy, course routing, and strategic playability.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience working remotely and managing distributed teams is highly desirable.
  • Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., ASGCA) is a significant advantage.
