Risk Surveyor - Renewable Energy
We are currently looking for a Risk Surveyor in Renewable Energy to be based in London on a full-time basis, reporting into the Risk Control Manager
Responsibilities:
- To confirm that the risk conditions reflect the Underwriters policy inception expectations.
- To advise Underwriters of those risks that present an unacceptable risk.
- To advise Underwriters of action required to improve a risk to meet acceptable standards.
- To advise those risks that are acceptable and likely to be profitable to Underwriters.

We're committed to playing our part in the urgent transition from carbon-intensive energy sources to less centralised and more flexible energy systems. Our teams of energy professionals link up across our global network of offices to provide solutions, designs, and support to clients in multiple technical and deployment areas such as: on and offshore wind power, solar power, hydropower, carbon capture, alternative fuels, hydrogen and, crucially, energy demand assessment and carbon reduction. Are you ready to take on the role of Associate Director, Renewable Energy in our rapidly expanding energy team? You will be responsible for undertaking a technical and delivery role on projects within the team with a focus on the Northern Ireland market; our projects are in all stages of development and at all scales. Our clients are a mix between large energy utility generators to private developers.
Here's what you'll do:
As our new Associate Director, you will be a senior member of the team and responsible for developing and leading project delivery and developing and maintaining client relationships.
You will review and generate technical and contractual information from both internal and external sources.
Other aspects of the role include:
- Liaise with clients, manage project work on a day-to-day basis and ensure that the work is delivered within the agreed timescale and budgets.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary design of energy infrastructure.
- Respond to technical queries raised by Site Teams, where appropriate.
- Act as lead verifier on reports including technical feasibility studies and design reports (depending on core engineering discipline).
- Direct junior members of staff and mentor graduate engineers.

Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what's possible?
Here's what we're looking for:
- BEng (Hons) degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical or Mechanical or Environmental)
- Chartered status or actively working towards chartership
This role, with a strong technical focus, requires candidates to have a background in civil, electrical, mechanical, environmental or project management experience in the energy sector, and demonstrate a high degree of technical competency.
Experience of leading or making significant contributions to projects in one or more of the following is essential:
- Onshore wind
- Offshore wind
- Large scale solar PV
- Hydroelectric design - both run of river and pumped storage
- Thermal generation
- Industrial energy processes
- Future Fuels
