I'm currently partnered with a systems integrator who are leading automation specialists in the UK. They are currently hiring for Controls Engineers to join their office in Burton-on-Trent.

Responsibilities:

• Writing software from scratch for PLC programmes using Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, or Schneider software.
• Control system software design and implementation
• Producing cutting edge solutions for process control systems clients in the food & beverage, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and utilities sectors.
• Industrial ethernet network design and testing
• On site installation, testing and process commissioning.
• Real time control system design and commissioning
• Control System Software design and testing
• Electrical Control Panels and commissioning

Control Systems Engineer – The Role:

• Diverse role working on special purpose machinery, in a fast-paced environment

• Work closely with a team of technical experts on projects

• Following a project’s full lifecycle from cradle to grave

Control Systems Engineer – The Person:

• Educated to a degree level in a relevant engineering discipline

• Experience of process involvement, lean & six sigma as well as background of programming PLC’s (Siemens, Rockwell, B&R, Beckhoff, Bosch or Lenze) and HMI systems

• Experience of working with variable speed & servo drives is essential

• Methodical & accurate with excellent communication & problem-solving skills

• Approx. 5 years automation experience writing control software, performing design & commissioning activities for PLC’s & servo control systems

• Demonstrate the ability to work with HMI software, safety systems, inverters, pneumatics, communication networks & produce & read supporting technical & electrical documentation using EPlan or similar

The role is commutable from within and around the following locations: York, Hull and Scarborough with support available if relocation to Yorkshire would be of interest to you.

Role would also suit an Automation Engineer, Control Engineer or a Systems Design Engineer.

What You Will Do:

- Provide technical support and fault diagnosis for advanced automation systems, including Siemens TIA Portal, SCADA/HMI platforms, and SQL databases.

- Troubleshoot and maintain industrial automation systems, ensuring seamless operation of multidisciplinary setups involving mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

- A qualification in Electrical, Industrial Electrical Control, or Automation Systems (HNC/HND or higher).

- Siemens TIA Portal Level 3 programming certification, with additional certifications in industrial networking or SCADA preferred.

- Strong electrical fault-finding skills and the ability to read and interpret schematics.

- Hands-on experience with both hardware and software in automation systems, ideally within a food manufacturing or process machinery environment.

- A proactive approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor junior team members.
